When I and other kids in the neighborhood went to the movies the screens were always huge. Then along came the multiplexes and the screens became smaller. Someone please enlighten me as to why we seem to take a step backwards? Why on earth would they put smaller auditoriums and smaller screens in a place like that?
Carnitaw32….I live in Camp Hill Pennsylvania and in the Camp Hill shopping center when I was growing up there was a Jack and Jill’s clothing store. I wonder if it was one of Mr. Kliemans stores. Mom use to buy my sisters school clothes there.
Projectionroom…..I am glad to hear that your doing well. I was down to the Elks on your opening weekend and was really impressed. The prior management, I wasn’t to impressed with. HE gave off a negative vibe. It’s always great to see a single screen theater like the Elks a success…Good Luck!
Yes, Dennis this site is getting slower. In fact sometimes when I bring up the site, my name doesn’t appear as a member. Sure thing I would like to meet sometime. I have been to the Allen. It has been awhile though. Mount Joy could use a theater. You know the saying, “What is old is new again.”
Dennis…My Fair Lady played at the Uptown for 12 weeks back. Dennis I remember the Eric as well. I see Doctor Doolittle there. Within the last year it has been demolished. It closed sometime in the mid 90’s and was used for storage. Did you see my post on the King in Lancaster?
I have to disagree with part of Jonathan M Crist post on April the 1st 2004. Where the Hill theater sat is not the place where a drug store sits today. That was the Hill’s parking lot. The Hill sat on the lower side of what was Landis Jewelers. The Hill was demolished and a 2 story office building built in its place.
Has anyone checked the pictures of the Mt. Tabor Theater on the website cinematour ? This place is a dump. Unless it has been remodeled since those pictures were taken.
Patsy: The Jordan was demolished a while back. I check periodically on the Jordan page on Cinematour just to see if any pictures were added, and the black and whites were added. I bet that that was a cool looking place in its heyday. I wish Seth would post the photos that he took of the ruined lobby…SETH DID YOU HEAR THAT!!!..LOL.

So, what is the up to date news on the Devon, how are things progressing?
So is there anything new happening with the Malek? The taxes on this place must be eating someone alive, or there is unpaid back taxes?

ProjectionRoom..I now see the Elks is open 7 days a week. How is that working out?
DennisZ..drop me a line at > Would like to hear from you.
Ok, now I am curious. What did or does a union projectionist make an hour? And what responibilities does the job entail?
Norelco.. I was wondering how long it would take for you to response to jhoffa post, and it wasn’t long. Well said indeed.

I was by this theater on New Years Eve. Doesn’t look like its open. Does anyone know if the Ritz showing movies anymore? I enjoyed going there.
I have been to the Strand. It does need quite the refurbishing. I wish them the best of luck.

Any smart person would vote with their wallet and go elsewhere if they weren’t happy.
Patsy..how was your trip to Gettysburg and the Carlisle area? Hope you had a nice time and enjoyed your stay.
Besides going there and seeing what the interior looks like. Does anyone have pictures of the interior or the exterior of the Uptown at night?
Thank you Gary for the website. I like the vintage photo of the marquee
Would be nice to see a photo or two
Max Einhorn…I notice the Elks is open 7 days a week now…how are things working out being open 7 days a week now?
