Classic small town theatre in operation since 1921. In 2007, it went over to mix of concerts and movies, but suffered damage from a fire in January 2009. Repairs were carried out and it went back to full time first run movies when it reopened in November 2009. It was closed in 2014.

The building sat vacant for four years until October 2018 when it was refurbished and opened as The Ritz Complex, a sports complex, gymnasium & cafe which opened in 2019.

Lost…there program was mixed….movies and concerts..so your right concerts could be added to the “Function” above. I was there once since the new owner’s took over. They made some really nice changes. They even redid the neon on the sign. Looks great at night.

The owner said that he recently got the theatre back from the “teenage concerts people” I guess that they replaced the old Motiograph projectior with a Century. He asked me how to lube it & gave me a tour. Pretty nice inside. Rest rooms are in the basement.

I see that there is now fire hydrant in front of the entrance.

Too bad the Great Escape 12-plex is @ the nearby Lycoming Mall.

The concert people are gone. The owner said that he would like to open in 4-6 weeks. He just loves the place. It was his chilhood dream to own the Ritz. He took my phone # in case he ever need a back up projectionist. I told him that I would work for a box of popcorn.

As is the case with other small town theaters, the Ritz is struggling to raise the funds necessary to convert digital projection. The current owners are starting fund raising efforts and and becoming a not-for-profit to avoid closing. View article

The March 12, 1921, issue of The American Contractor said that Williamsport architect F. Arthur Rianhard was designing a part 1-story and part 2-story theater, 39 x 120 feet, to be built at Muncy, Pennsylvania, for J. F. Fahnestock.

The Ritz suffered damage by a fire in January 2009, but reopened after renovations that November. Unfortunately after just five years of rebooting, the Ritz closed as a first-run movie theater in 2014.

After sitting abandoned for four years, Royce Eyer of Muncy bought the abandoned Ritz in October 2018. Everything was kept from the outside including its marquee, but the inside was converted into “The Ritz Complex”, which is a sportsplex, cafe, and a reception hall that opened in 2019.
