How bad does this area want this theatre, i am looking into buying it. But will the communuty embace it with a mulitplex down the block.
Did this theater get a digital projector & if so how did it afford to?
The March 12, 1921, issue of The American Contractor said that Williamsport architect F. Arthur Rianhard was designing a part 1-story and part 2-story theater, 39 x 120 feet, to be built at Muncy, Pennsylvania, for J. F. Fahnestock.
As is the case with other small town theaters, the Ritz is struggling to raise the funds necessary to convert digital projection. The current owners are starting fund raising efforts and and becoming a not-for-profit to avoid closing. View article
The concert people are gone. The owner said that he would like to open in 4-6 weeks. He just loves the place. It was his chilhood dream to own the Ritz. He took my phone # in case he ever need a back up projectionist. I told him that I would work for a box of popcorn.
I took this shot of the marquee lit up on 9-25-2009

The owner said that he recently got the theatre back from the “teenage concerts people” I guess that they replaced the old Motiograph projectior with a Century. He asked me how to lube it & gave me a tour. Pretty nice inside. Rest rooms are in the basement.
I see that there is now fire hydrant in front of the entrance.
Too bad the Great Escape 12-plex is @ the nearby Lycoming Mall.
I was past this theater on Sunday. The marquee said “movies coming soon” I wonder how soon.
Get “Border”
And advertise it as showing!

An independent film…….
Lost…there program was mixed….movies and concerts..so your right concerts could be added to the “Function” above. I was there once since the new owner’s took over. They made some really nice changes. They even redid the neon on the sign. Looks great at night.
Lost…I receive a weekly movie update…so they are back showing movies now
Lysha…I was past the Ritz a few days ago. I thought I seen a realestate sign in the window. Is it for sale?
My parents actually own the ritz theatre. We havent been showing movies lately due to my parents full time jobs and lack of time. We’re working on it right now. We’re looking into showing independent films. At the moment we are working as a venue and doing concerts for the younger teenage crowd.
I took this picture in October, 2006, and they were open at that time.
