I got an email from AMC with their newsletter, and besides Ice Age and Public Enemies out on Tuesday, on friday the first Bollywood film to play here will be out…Kambakkht Ishq. This is a relief for those who enjoy these kind of movies. Plus, it has some cameos by famous celebs from Hollywood. It should have subtitles for English fans.
Looks like Ice Ace 3 won’t be in 3d starting at midnight tomorrow, the umpteenth time a major movie will be shown in plain old 2d at this theater. Thank god AMC pulled the plug on the IMAX Rockaway project, according to AMC’s IMAX website. I hope they get the 3D just in time for Avatar, which is the movie that will become the most popular 3D movie of all time, beating out “THe Stewardesses” and “House of Wax”. Harry Potter tickets are available, and will likely do excellent business. I think this summer won’t be as big as last year, when the Dark Knight drew lots of crowds to that theater (I went to mansfield instead, thank god). And looks like AMC might show a longer Best Picture Showcase now that it’s 10 nominees!!!
From what I read, Avatar looks like another big hit for Cameron, yet the public hasn’t seen a single trailer for the film. Maybe they’ll show it with Ice Age 3D or another movie. On the AMC website, they list Danbury, New Brunswick, and Monmouth Mall as getting those mini-IMAX screens…from now on, I’ll never go to those and stick with the real IMAX screens. As for this weekend’s top movie, the first day it opened, TF2 sold out a lot of shows. Since Thursday, ticket sales have cooled off a bit, although I’m waiting until the day when they start showing movies with legs. You know, like “Star Trek” and “Up”.
On the AMC website, there is an offer for a free large popcorn with a purchase of a large soda along with a printable coupon and a ticket to see “Transformers 2”. This is a good deal for those who want to sit through two and a half hours of fast paced action and loud booming sound!!!
Looks like Up will be playing in plain old 2D again this week, as Transformers 2 dominated plenty of screens and some sold out midnight showings tonight. One week from today the new IMAX theater is scheduled to open; how’s work going on that thing?
This along with Sony’s 4k rollout in many AMC and Regal theaters will make most theaters digital ready by 2012. The independent theaters who don’t have the money to buy digital projection will lose money and close shop.
On the movietickets.com website, there are no showtimes for Up on the day that Transformers 2 has full showtimes. I wonder if they’re showing it in 3D on that day? I Hope so.
I agree. At the AMC in Rockaway, two HDTVs separated by the AMC logo show the same ads that the theaters show before showtime. Don’t forget that the movie starts “10-15 minutes following the showtime”, which includes mostly trailers, not the 20-minute preshow. At the Clearviews, they sometimes show a preshow as well as slides before the main film. Regal also does this too.
The picture was almost like scope, with the top and bottom cut off, making reading credits at the end of trailers and titles to be a bit difficult. There was no pre-show, just animated slides before the film started a bit late. After the 2D trailer for “Shorts”, a 3D trailer for “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” came, upon which my dad thought it was out of focus, which I corrected by tellling him to put on the 3D glases. After the Clearview Policy trailer, then the “put on your glasses” thing was on, and there were two Disney 3D trailers, and then the movie. No short was shown before Up. The audience was not that crowded, due to the high price of the ticket ($13.50). The floor near the theater (#1) was a bit slippery, but the picture and sound was great, and it was worth the drive and money to go see it, at 4:30. Until Rockaway gets 3-D projection, I’ll probably go to this theater to see “Ice Age 3”, “G-Force”, and other movies.

btw, any word on when 3-D is coming to this theater?
The Big Movie Zone website lists this theater as in Development, while LF Examiner and Michael Bay’s website list the date as June 30, 2009, six days after the next major IMAX movie comes out. Too bad it’s going to be the digital IMAX that die-hard IMAX fans will be complaining about. Even producer Frank Marshall went to the one in Times Square and wasn’t pleased.
FYI, the upcoming Avatar movie will also have a 2D scope version for those theaters that can’t afford the 3D 16:9 format. Hopefully by then this theater will be 3D equipped.
Looks like I’m going to see it this coming weekend at this or any of the other Clearviews in Morris/Warren counties. How has attendance fared over the 10+ years it opened?
How has attendance at this theater done since it opened two years ago? It’s too bad that the Tenplex is now plastered with graffiti and crawling with bugs and mice, and its sister theater, the Triplex, is now a parking lot (just like Shea Stadium). This theater could be the only cash cow that will help the mall, even on days when it doesn’t make money on Sundays and holidays.

1930sfun, Michael Jackson passed away. It’s a good thing he didn’t go to the newer theater, as the high prices would’ve spooked the King of Pop.
i read that before.
a few..final destination death trip as well as my bloody valentine 3d.

No wonder why the Rockaway theater is lagging behind the times.

it’s back on.
right now advance ticketing is not available on movietickets.com.
I created this thread, and I do most of the comments since i see a lot of movies at this theater.

Speaking of busy movies, which movie was the most profitable at this theater?
Back when it opened, was it the most profitable multiplex for AMC when it was two separate theaters?
