The first sound movie shown here was “Monte Carlo”(made in 1930) in 1933. Sun Pictures may be the only picture theatre in tne World to get(tidal?) flooding outside the theatre building?
The hotel Opened on 1st July, 1967 accoss tne road from the Dunes Hotel and Casino, and between the Three Coins and Galaxy Motels. Date of closure and demolition unknown. The site is now the entrance for Bally’s Las Vegas(formally MGM Grand, built on the site of Three Coins Motel).
The site is now Industrial Contracting & Engineering. The three roads seen on the Streetview phpto, might be the same three roads there right now. Theres a sign frame out front, tnat might be the drive'in sign? There might be some bits of the drive-in behind tne current business buildings thete now(its hard to tell clearly?)?
The Fiesta Gardens site maybe the carpark on the right of the building(in front of the entrance of the pool and snooker hall), or on the left hand where there was a garden centre(name unknown?), later demolished, and then a video library(Network Video, and later possibly Movies4u)on the ground floor, and a surf shop upstairs(name unknown?) and carpark in front. The video library and surf shop have both closed down(a few years ago i think?), the building is now a health club(Jetts)on the ground floor, and a fashion store(It’s on the plus size) upstairs.
Opened on 23/12/1961 and closed on 9/6/1991 with “Home Alone” and “Sleeping with the enemy” and “Edward Scissorhands” and Robin Hood(Kevin Costner version)“. The projectors were sold to tne Palais Theatre in St Kilda.
