I thought it was wild when i read the bio and somehow remembered the story the other night,Grabbed the book and put Fonda’s Quote in.Hope one day to find the Drive-in that was in “MIDNIGHT COWBOY”.
Well.In 1956 it was called the BEACH DRIVE-In I wish these small town operators would quit changing names.I see it mostly in one and two Theatre towns so far.
We tend to be so alike ,i had a Ventura same color.Having known Nick for so long it is danged scary how much we are alike. But we were all theatre dawgs.
Love that 1982 picture taken at night.Needs to be in a frame! Alot going on in that picture for the eye to see.And just a clean look with the Box office girl most likely doing her Homework between shows.
I Don’t have a problem with Twin Theatres if they are built from the ground like RMC said twinning a single house ruins a theatre I also think a Marquee is always needed.
I guess the lobby work ad on 2001 was thrown in the trash.I wouldn’t card it a lobby card.Never seen a lobby card that big.Never noticed other theatres promoting 2001 in such a big way.Would have loved to had it.I do have the original one sheet from 1968.
In my 1956 Motion Picture Almanac it is was not listed under Martin theatres so it was not part of that chain.Even though Martin ran two Drive-ins there.
Another one closed by CARMIKE.

There still might be one in the local newspaper achieves.
This was the only Drive-in I could find in Carthage,so it had to be this one that Peter Fonda was writing about.
Thanks for the movie ad.

Must have been built in the sixties, not in my Motion picture Almanac for 1956,The other two drive-ins there were Martin Theatres,no surprize.
Wonder what theatre in Columbus played “GOODBYE,COLUMBUS”?
Ken and Bob, It was owned by Rodeo Drive-In Theatre Corp,in 1956.And parked 600 cars as Ken reported.
Thanls Nick.Anymore big articles set for CT.
Did you print those movie ads i sent down from the Drive-in in Tampa. Can’t remember the Drive-in was it the Tower Drive-in.
