The Lenox Theatre was one of four African-American Theatres in Augusta. It opened by July 1939 and was a beautiful theatre in its day with on-stage appearances by such notable entertainers as Earl “Fatha” Hines, Ethel Waters, Arthur Lee Simpkins and James Brown. The Lennox Theatre was still open in 1947. The theatre has since been demolished.
