sounds good. I know Clearview uses 2k projection on smaller screens that looks sharper but when shown on a big screen like the AMCs, it’s a bit soft and blurry.

Is it still THX certified? I know that those two THX screens were located to the left and right of the snack stand, very much like the AMC in Rockaway. I saw “Galaxy Quest” in one of the smaller ones, and it was very tiny. I even sat with my dad near the top of the auditorium for Pitch Black, as well as close to the screen for “Crouching Tiger”, and always near the guardrail for most movies, which I liked about the theater when it opened and was the first time I went to a theater with the same seating style as an IMAX theater, but with a lower price and better crowds. Since AMC bought the chain, they kept the stars and beams of the old logo an put in a big AMC logo in the back and front of the theater.

btw, the projection of 21 wasn’t digital. It was very blurry, simliar to Rockaway but on a bigger screen that filled half the screen and with more seats. The crowds are more louder than in Rockaway, and the staff is nicer. I’d say this is AMC’s best theater I’ve been to since the old Rockaway theater. There are more ticket atms around the theater than in Rockaway, although the exterior is not as exciting as Rockaway, with its giant movie posters on the left, front, and right side of the theater.

moviebuff82 commented about AMC Loews Paramus Route 4 Tenplex on Mar 31, 2008 at 7:57 pm

Actually, according to an ad posted by a CT user, this theater opened in October of 1965, not when Thunderball came out. Thunderball was the first James Bond movie to play at the Route 4 theater, but not in Paramus, as older theaters in the area played Dr. No and Goldfinger. It would become the longest running film series at the Tenplex, ending with Casino Royale a few months before shutting down. Quantum of Solace will be the first James Bond movie to play at the Garden State 16. The new Indiana Jones will play at that theater, as all three movies have played in the Route 4. And the new Star Wars animated cartoon will be playing at GS16, too.

Studio 54 is a dance hall, not a movie theater. Same could be said for MSG and Yankee Stadium. MSG once had a movie premiere of Godzilla (1998) while Yankee Stadium showed only Looney Tunes cartoons before Old Timers Day games on the tiny screen (soon to be replaced by the widescreen at the new one).

From what I’ve seen pictures of, this theater’s interior is very similar to the one in Paramus but is larger and has more screens and seats than Paramus. The closest 24 screen theater near me is in Hamilton, NJ, and that’s owned by AMC. Next time I hang out in Toronto, I’ll check out this theater and bring in a passport!!!

That POTA movie that featured RCMH in shambles showed a vision of New York that didn’t match that of 9/11, when a chunk of Lower Manhattan was destroyed by terrorists. Since then, security has been increased and will try to keep RCMH safe from jets and terrorist acts, not to mention crane accidents like the one in midtown a few weeks ago.

just checked out movietickets.com and tickets aren’t available for drillbit taylor. all other movies have online ticketing. did the auditorium get evacuated or were they doing some imax work on it? also, seating should be 3300, not 3500.

just came back from the movies seeing “21” in theater #2, which has around 500+ seats. #1 has “Horton” and seats around 540+. The presentation was 35mm film, and there were a few instances of splicing and discoloration after the film presentation was delayed for a few minutes…but the screen I saw it on was bigger than the widescreen in Rockaway, plus the sound was great and the seating nice. On the way to the auditorium, one of the workers gave me back my AMC gift card, and she was courteous!!! Parking here is a hassle, even on the day before Sundays!!! The popcorn was ok, very salty near the end. The crowd was well behaved too.

Found this excerpt from some website:
“2. Paramus, New Jersey: Squad car responded to disturbance at AMC multiplex of female minor standing up during showing of ATONEMENT, screaming an obscenity. Complainant was the female’s mother, who requested that officers “wash out the little brat’s mouth” because she had said “the bad C-word.” Officers removed the complainant and the female subject from the theater."

Here’s what I got in my email from AMC…
“Dear Justin,

Thank you for contacting AMC Theatres. Generally, we try to complete
our show schedules on Wednesday evening of each week for the following 7
days. However, many factors can lead to this process being delayed.

The theatre will complete the schedule as soon as possible and post all
their showtimes to www.movietickets.com We apologize for any
inconvenience.

AMC Guest Services"
and now checking the site…voila…showtimes!!!

no showtimes for tomorrow…what is going on at rockaway?

That practice has been used for a long time, even though the technology has changed. If a theater’s showtimes is not listed on opening day, then an advisory for the reader to call the theater or look up on the web for showtimes is printed next to the theater, especially if there’s a lot of popular movies!!!

Here’s what they had to say…
“Generally, a theater’s release schedule for a movie runs from Friday to
Thursday. Showtimes for this theater generally appear on Wednesday.
However, for a blockbuster release that is in high demand, tickets and
showtimes may be available up to a month in advance. Schedules are set
by each individual theater, not by MovieTickets.com, so please check
back frequently if the movie you are looking for is not yet for sale in
your area.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the theater
directly at 973 328 4255 for further assistance"
If anyone calls them to see what the fuss is about, then reply to my comment.

I emailed movietickets.com, and hopefully get a comment from them. On moviefone, the showtimes for rockaway are twice what they are on movietickets, causing some to think that a movie is playing on more screens.

What a classic movie….that will never be remade. I like the colored paper that advertised that movie.
