Speaking of trailers, some trailers are shown usually exclusively in theatres before making their online debut as was the case with Beale Street which i saw with Creed II before it debuted online a few days later.
I have seen two movies in the past two days. Bohemian Rhapsody which played in the smaller screen with soso projection but excellent sound, and Creed II which played in one of the big screens, also with soso projection but awesome sound. The trailers keep getting longer, since AMC put in the A-List thing in the policy trailers before the movie. I like sitting all the way in the back since i get the whole picture. I can still hear the vibrations and sound bleeding from the Dolby and Imax screens, which are the loudest and brightest of all the screens. Tried out the Coke Freestyle machine with a free drink coupon from Coke and used a free coupon for a ticket and the coke zero lime is tasty but sugary near the end. They need to take care of the parking lot near the theater as snow melt can make driving through it dangerous!!
if you want the full experience at home, get the 4k bluray. From what i heard, both the bluray and the 4k bluray have the sound mix sourced from 70mm six track elements. The 2001 special edition DVD’s sound mix was remixed for the release.
Yes. The Hazlet cinemas is the only one i can think of that became a rave cinema and now a Cinemark with recliners. The Amboy cinemas still remains but it’s barren, and the All Jersey cinemas is gone in Newark.
It was at this theater where i went all the way on my own to see “A Bugs Life” where I saw the teaser for “The Phantom Menace” a week after the trailer made its debut in limited release. I already saw the trailer on tv so i knew what the crowd had in mind before the movie began. Little did I know was that Lucasfilm would soon be part of Disney.
Happy 20th anniversary to this theater this month!!! It was here during showings of Meet Joe Black that the teaser for “Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace” was shown before and after the movie, causing a media frenzy which resulted in a so-so movie that has become a defining moment for a young generation whose older siblings grew up with Star Wars and were weaned on the Special editions a year ago. It was during one of the showings that a man used a video camera, made a bootleg copy of the trailer with a packed crowd, and posted it on the internet way before Youtube existed. Soon after, the trailer made its debut on TV shows and on Apple’s website, where the second trailer broke records online. The rest is cinematic history.
out of all those movies i saw land before time in the theater since i was a bit too young to see the other ones (I would see them later on TV and on VHS and DVD and bluray). Flash forward years later and there would be two sequels to the Naked Gun, too many Land Before Times made for video sequels, and a Child’s Play reboot following several sequels to the film.
Looks like this theater is the only one showing first man but in regular digital and in fewer showtimes. The imax run didn’t last long, and right now the R rated Overlord is sharing screen time with the PG rated Grinch, both in imax 2d. Bohemian Rhapsody and Grinch are sharing the dolby. I’m surprised that this theater is showing more indian movies, which is a good thing.
I’m wondering if AMC will remove the Loews Theatres signage as it has done so to more theatres as the Loews name will soon be discontinued. Same for Magic Johnson and other theatres that AMC acquired. As for the international chains, those will remain the same. AMC’s Stubs program has been a success and will raise prices on the A-List program in order to goose profits. MoviePass will die a slow death.

Looks like reserved seating is coming to other auditioriums in the near future.
During the Black Friday shooting at the mall this building was used as a shelter for the evacuees before it closed until the day after it happened.
RIP Nicholas Roeg, the director of the third movie that played at this theater.
woohoo!!!

With the closing of the edgewater theater, there are no more NA/Showcase cinemas left in North Jersey.
With the closing of the edgewater cinemas last week, this is the only National Amusements/Showcase theater to be left in the garden state.

it sure lived a long life. Built as part of the megaplex boom.
How about the dolby auditorium?
When did a third screen get added? Any ad?

Nice picture on the site in black and white. Very retro.
Is there a 1984 opening ad from when it became a 10 plex? How about when it became a cineplex odeon?
With the closing of the tenafly theater, moviegoers will take the train to hackensack and eat and watch a movie.
Did you smell the fires?
Got an email from AMC that the Odeon, when fully open, will have the UK’s first ever Dolby Cinema.
Ads promoting dolby cinema at this theater refer to this theater as AMC Lincoln Square 13.
