Went to see Underworld: Evolution in Mansfield, and the ticket prices have increased to $6.95 (same for succasunna and other popular clearview theatres) as well as $9.50. Very expensive, but not as expensive as Ziegfeld. If you want to buy a cheap movie ticket around this area, I suggest going to the smaller theatres in Newton and Sparta as well as East Hanover, which charges 45 cents less than the clearview chain.
Just went to the movies today to see “narnia”, and it was good to see a recent movie playing in one of the two new auditoriums! The screen looks like one of the larger screens from Mansfield, and is one of the better screens in Succasunna. The theatre where I saw it was theatre #9.
You’re right, John. When the new rockaway megaplex opens later this year, it will hurt the parsippany theatre’s business as well as many of the clearview cinemas, since the loews chain is larger than clearviews.
hmmmm…clearview is a much smaller company and is owned by a publicly traded company (cablevision)…so loews is a good veteran of the multiplex business (and the single screen business since the 1900s) and has decent pre-show ads that are animated and digital (ala AMC and Regal, the other big two theater chains).
When the new Rockaway theatre opens(several miles from the same company’s East Hanover theatre), the old Morris county theatre will lose its audience to the Essex Green Cinema and the Rockaway theatre itself. Any news on when that parking lot got frozen? It’s like the parking lot near the Parsippany, but a lot worse!
I went to the theatre to see Brokeback Mountain, and boy, it was packed! Although the movie was shown a few minutes late and the sound quality was ok (not digital but analog surround sound), the seats were good and the movie was good. The theatre is pretty big, too. WHen I left the theatre, portions of the parking lot were flooded (right by the multi-story lot that looks like the one near yankee stadium). The theatre is right next to a good restaurant, Chuck E'Cheeses, which is a good place to eat lunch or dinner before sipping a starbucks at the theatre.
Just went to the movies to see King Kong (great movie) and saw that the new screens were nearing completion while work was done on the front marquee. Can’t wait to go to the theatre again soon!
I saw the nokia theatre on tv last night during ESPN’s telecast of the heisman trophy award show and boy, it looks like a great place to see a concert or an awards show.
Just went to the movie theatre today to see Harry Potter in theatre 5 and boy, the theatre people are hard at work on the two new auditoriums while keeping the remaining 8 theatres open! Nothing much has changed in the theatre except the new improved bathrooms and the ticket office is finally indoors (just in time for the cold winter and whatever mother nature brings)! It wasn’t crowded at all (just a matinee), yet they didn’t promote the cheap Custumor appreciation week (still $6.50 to get in for matinees, $9.50 for evening shows). Oh, well. Finally, the sucasunna is back!
Boy, I was wrong! The theatre will reopen for customer appreciation week… View link
Check it out! Lower ticket prices, more moviegoers to the old cineplex!

checked the website again…and the theatre is closed for renovations. Again! Why is this happening? I’m supposed to go see harry potter near where i live and I have to go see it far away on Wednesday!!!
So, when do the two new screens open? I know it’s in mid-November, just in time for the new Harry Potter. Is it still delayed by weather problems? In other news, parking is allowed only near Kohls and not near the theatre as they are hard at work on those two new screens at the Succasunna “8”.
I heard that story too on the 10 o'clock news on Fox 5. What a shame that the theatre that was supposed to show a kid’s movie showed a horrible movie. Thankfully the patrons got a refund and saw another showing of chicken little. Thank god it didn’t affect the theatres where i live. New York is known for its great movie theatres, but showing an adult movie in front of a auditorium full of kids? That’s crazy. The sky is really falling at AMC Empire 25!
Just read on the board for Roxbury on NJ.com that Clearview is building some kind of IMAX Theatre. This is just a rumor, so a multiplex that size couldn’t allow a giant screen theatre, doesn’t it?

I was checking the showtimes for this weekend, and the theatre’s two new screens will finally open! Yeaah!!!!

You know, with the rain coming and the snow, it might be delayed.
I hope they finish just in time for another big movie, King Kong! Please keep me posted, John, on the theatre updates, OK?

They are still building the theater, which will be located alongside busy route 80 in rockaway.
Here’s the latest on Cinema 10: View link
Can’t wait for Dec. 16th!
Thanks for the comments, RobD! Can’t wait!
It might be straight across from Dick’s…
It’s still chugging along despite the merger, and will open next spring or late summer, I guess.
Why is cinema 10 so successfull?

Went to the theatre yesterday, and very little has changed since I last went there. Still very popular.
