I bet the locals stay out of the tourist trap and the vistors don’t want to waste time in a theatre.Gatlinburg has gone down down hill,it could take a look at Hilton Head and see how to do it right.They have ruined the Smokeys.

Great pictures,Penway14.Here are some more facts from 1956 Almanac.It parked 900 cars making it a huge Drive-in.And was owned in the late fifties by V.Smith. Who owned a few Drive-ins in Pennsylvania.
Rave said the area is overscreeen what city isn’t.You look at the picture and it looks like a nice movie theatre,so just give up?Must be other reasons than over screened,Any city of any size is overscreened,I don’t see the logic in closing,Maybe you guys up there know the real reason.
According to Boxoffice The Dream theatre will add two Theatres that will seat 80 and 90 people.The interior of each will be decorated in a “neondeco” style.With Silver mirrors and neon lights.
Boxoffice stated “THE GODS MUST BE CRAZY” had a nine month run at the Dream theatre. April 1986.

All of this is Great,but it is a crying shame Charlotte let ALL her downtown theatres be torn down,for progress.Atlanta was smart enough to save a couple of Downtown Theatres; is Charlotte so uppity that they just didn’t care!
Ron ,Interesting answer to your Question on Sunday showings can be found in an old Motion Picture Almanac.I have one from 1956 and they have everystate and Blue laws on Sundays.If you could ever get ahold of one these Almanacs you would have any Question Answered on Sunday showings.IF you have a state in Question I would be glad type down the Blue laws for that state in Question.

This Company operated the LENOX THEATRE in Augusta.So they had screens all over Dixie.
There was a Paradise Drive-in in Deer Park,MD.Could this be the 219 drive-in?

I think there was CIRCLE DRIVE-In in this town real Close to I-26.
Fairlane-Litchfield were buying screens all over the Southeast.Only to sell out to UA.

I noticed CARMIKE is good at closing Theatres.
