Eric F, It did have a warning tag by the PG rating{may be Too intense for younger children}.Sounds like you had pretty decent parents.I watched for years parents bringing kids to R-rated movies at theatres I managed.Couldn’t believe it.“COMING HOME” lets bring two pre-teens with mom and dad.

The very hardcore movie “CRUISING” with warning labels on the one-sheets along with the R rating opens at the Mall 1 and 2 and like other Plitt theatres in the region it dies a quick death staying on some screens only 2 to 3 weeks.Unheard of for a Al Pacino film.
“DAMNATION ALLEY” opens with a sensational 360 degree stereo sound with included hanging extra speakers on the theatre walls.“FIRST LOVE” is playing on the screen in the summer of 1977.
Asheville West Twin Theatre picks up “STAR WARS” from the Merrimon Twin Theatre going on its 23rd Week! The other Theatre was playing “KENTUCKY FRIED MOVIE” rated R.
Nov.6 1977 “VALENTINO” with Rudolf Nureyev is playing.In the other theatre Asheville is watching something called “STAR PILOT” mostly likely a “Star Wars” rip-off.
Ron and Bryan the Colonial is listed with the same theatre chain in 1956 Motion picture Almanac.

Yes.It was an ABC Southeastern Theatre like the Terrace,then a Plitt theatre.I have no idea who got it from Plitt, UA,maybe.

Ken Mc “JAWS II ” was horrible.I pulled for the shark in that one just to shut those dirty mouth teenagers up.
For the record “JOHN AND MARY” was not family fare as mentioned above it carried an R -rating in its day.Today it might be PG.
