August 7 1977 and going on its second week is the sequel to “BAD NEWS BEARS”. “BAD NEWS BEARS IN BREAKING TRAINING” is playing at the BILTMORE TWIN.Rated PG.
May 23. 1982 Another in the list of B-pictures opens at the Asheville west Twin theatre, “FIGHTING BACK” a cheap Death Wish rip -off.Also on the other Screen was “THE ROAD WARRIOR”
More movies at the Mall 1 and 2 theatres in Asheville Mall Nov.20 1977 sees “OH,GOD” and “BOBBY DEARFIELD” playing. May 23 1982,the Mall 1 and 2 Theatres are back to lousy films like “KILL SQUAD” which probably would have played better at a Drive-in,and Pia Zadora and Orson Welles in The R-rated “BUTTERFLY” June 13,1982 and the Mall theatres are playing “PORKY’S” and “BLOOD WEDDING” with free refreshments! Anything to sell a ticket? As stupid as “PORKY’S” was it was going on a ten week run![the free refreshments were for the movie"BLOOD WEDDING]
Mall 1 and 2 did play Disney’s Classic space movie “THE BLACK HOLE” with $2.00 bargin admission before 2:30. Also the bookers did okay with placing"KRAMER VS. KRAMER" at the Mall. Jan.13.1980.
Don’t have any. I just submitted the Plitt MAll 1 and 2 theatres in Asheville on CT.Have a few Drive-ins also to do if no one else in Asheville will do them.
August 7 1977 sees ASHEVILLE WEST playing Gergory Peck in a pretty good military movie, not quite up to par with PATTON,but Peck’s MacARTHUR is playing at the Asheville West. On the other screen for some reason,“ONE ON ONE” which is also playing at the other Irwin-Fuller Theatre the Merrimon 1 and 2 Theatres.Asheville, must be a heck of a basketball city!
August 7 1977 “STAR WARS” is still running strong with a special Late Show Fri-Sat at 11:45pm. sadly on the other screen is very weak Robby Benson film “ONE ON ONE”.
Also Showing at the Plaza “POLTERGEIST”, “HANK PANKY”,“PENITENTIARY” “MOUNTAIN FAMILY ROBINSON”, “NOSFERATU”[one week only],“CUBA” and “THE VISITOR”. While all the other theatre chains in town had matinees every day the IRVIN-FULLER Theatres for some strange reason never did.
August 7 1977 007 hits Asheville “THE SPY WHO LOVED ME” is playing a long run.
