Hello-
maybe but remember the 1st rule of real estate-location,
location, location.
I know there’s no subway near there but there are busses
Hello-
I wish the new management all the best but and there’s always a but. they will have the same problem Landmark did the location.
The theater will be opening in May 2023:
New York, NY: LOOK Dine-In Cinemas - W57th New York Opening in May [Apr 5, 2023]
Big Joe The theater here Carolina Cinemark that has food is very reasonable considering food prices. Also if you are a member you get 20% off plus they have monthly concession coupons. There was another chain here for several years a spin off of Regal called Cinebarre. They had table service and they were reasonable too. I get what you are saying Regal regular concession prices are ridiculous.
Mike (saps) - - the Alamo New Mission (SF) is a 15 min walk from me and yet I never go. Saw one film there (one of the Star Wars films) - the presentation was fantastic. Dual projected 3D (the best I’d ever seen) and knock your socks off sound. And a big screen. I am on their email list and they regularly have diverse screenings besides the first run fare. The employees tasked with bringing food did seem to have it down - they crouched and scurried almost unnoticeable. But you did notice people ordering food and it was a distraction. I just prefer a darkened theatre and no distractions - the dine in experience is not for me. But also very glad Alamo saved the theatre.
And yet the Alamo chain, who act like cinema-maniacs, seem to make the dining experience work.
Hello-
to stevenj thanks for your reply. if your description of how it would work is accurate i should think it would be SUPER ANNOYING for people not ordering food.
At CC’s link above the menu has a “How It Works” link (to order food) - you whip out your cellphone and text it to the kitchen for “a seamless uninterrupted viewing experience”. Except for the people sitting around you when their phone screen lights up and then the “ninjas” walk or scurry like rats past you to deliver the food. This may be the enjoyable movie going experience for some but this is the kind of theatre I would avoid.
Hello-
I’m not sure exactly what options are involved in a “dine-in” experience but you want to bet the food will be wayyyyyyyyyyy overpriced.
Maybe as a dine in cinema it will be a better fit'
Hello-
whichever theater chain operates this theater will run into the same problems Landmark did.
Please update Look Dine In Cinemas 57 West, theatre is renovating schedule to open this summer.
Latest press release from Look Dine-In Cinemas, which will re-open the site this summer with eight screens, can be viewed here
No worries! You’re welcome!
Now I get it! Thanks for the update!
VIA57 is the name of the building. LOOK Dine-In Cinemas is in talks to reopen the former Landmark at 57 West, which has remained vacant since closing: https://w42st.com/post/exclusive-movie-theater-at-via57-comes-back-with-look-cinemas-screen-and-dine-combo/
Since 2021, it is now a VIA 57th & West furniture/rental showroom.
Hello-
I would love to know why the big wigs at Landmark Theaters
decided to build a theater soooooooo far west. I mean when
you exit the theater walk a few feet to your right and you’re
in the middle of the West Side Highway.
I would think maybe Regal or AMC would reopen it if it’s still intact
It was way too far west and a bit of a walk from the nearest subway stop. THere was a bus stop about a block away.
Hello-
I went here twice in the first year and on both occasions the staff outnumbered the patrons. I really liked the up to date sound and projection facilities. as I stated previously even if the pandemic had not happened this theater was on shaky ground.
It’s unbelievable that this theater was open less than 3 years. Is it still intact as a theater.

Please update, theatre closed March 16, 2020 when covid shut down the theatres. Landmark announced in August it wouldn’t reopen
