mhvbear, I posted it here because both cinemas are in Hell’s Kitchen, with hundreds of fine restaurants between them. If you are peddling screening quality and cuisine, it is rough going in this pocket with 42nd street and Lincoln Square showing the same films. Pretty soon both cinemas will also have to face a midtown congestion charge for any potential car commuters.
There was no need to post the article about the Regal on this page as well. The Look Cinemas in Dobbs Ferry has proved to be very successful.
ridethectrain, I meant to credit you for sharing the REGAL post above but couldn’t figure out how to do that. Thank you for sharing!
I’ll go to E-Walk first. I’ll due dine in at Alamo
Unless LOOK can get some upper west side exclusive runs or better food, they are doomed.
“Regal E-Walk is currently undergoing renovation, so reaching a new agreement with DTA Leasehold Owner, LLC will allow this transformative work to be completed,” said Mooky Greidinger, CEO of Cineworld, parent company of Regal. “When interior renovations to the theatre have finished, Regal E-Walk will be one of New York’s top movie houses, including the largest 4DX auditorium in the world.”
Manhattan residents and tourists can continue to visit the E-Walk location to watch a movie at one of the world’s great cultural and entertainment intersections. Located on 42nd Street at 8th Avenue, the entrance to this Regal theatre can easily be found beneath its iconic 60' high digital marquee.
Regal E-Walk features luxury recliners along with two premium format auditoriums. The 4DX theatrical experience immerses moviegoers with moving seats and environmental effects. Once the refurbishments are complete, Regal E-Walk will be home to the world’s largest 4DX auditorium. The renovated theatre will also offer the Regal Premium Experience (RPX), delivering movies the way filmmakers intended with sharp laser projected visuals, clear Dolby Atmos surround sound and premium theatre seating.
This theatre is one of many NYC locations for moviegoers to take advantage of Regal Unlimited, which allows subscribers to watch as many movies as they want, whenever and wherever they want. The Regal Unlimited subscription pass is exclusively available on the Regal mobile app where moviegoers can choose from three different plans based on theatre location. There are no blackout dates and subscribers can purchase advance tickets as soon as they go on sale. Subscribers also receive a 10% discount on all food and non-alcoholic drink purchases along with automatic membership to the Regal Crown Club.

Grand opening ad in photos section. @Comfortably Cool, this is not the days when no internet was around, where Grand Opening ads appeared in newspapers. Grand Opening ads only appear on the theatre website and social media like facebook and instagram. I missed the newspaper ads, use to save movie ads years ago. They don’t advertise in the Dailey News or NY Times. A newspaper is now $3. for weekday issue. The internet killed the publications, most people subscribe to digital publications. That why you don’t find ads like they use to be. Alamo Drafthouse actually paid NYC Transit to advertise their new Lower Manhattan theatre in the subway.
“Social media” is internet. I’ve yet to see any advertising for the venue in a printed newspaper or magazine, or on a billboard or in the subways and buses. But I guess that sort of showmanship is no longer used for cinemas, or at least not in the Greater New York area.
Please update, total seats 526, the two big house remove a row in the front to install recliners
@comfortably cook go on facebook Look page YES on social media
Has there been any printed advertising in newspapers and/or magazines?

Theatre schedule to open May 4, opening attraction Guardians of the Galaxy. Tickets on sale
Hello-
the only way the Landmark 57 would have been able to make it is if the residents of the immediate area went there on a regular basis. that didn’t happen. so LOOK Dine-In Cinemas had better have a Guardian Angel so it doesn’t happen a second time.
I work as a projectionist at the Paris from time to time. I choose to walk from the Port Authority to the theatre. 42nd and 8th to 58th and 5th. A 25 to 30 minute walk, so there is no reason why this cant make it.
A 15 minute walk! That’s like getting off at 34th St. and walking to 49th St. to go to a movie.
I hope the locals support this house because I don’t think it’s going to be a destination site.
It’s in a good location. Few blocks from DeWitt Clinton Park, many condos near by, it’s near “Terminal 5” - the 59th St/Columbus Circle subway station is about a 15 minute walk.
From what I see, these folks who own “Look Cinemas” know what they are doing.
Landmark couldn’t make a go of it. Would rather it sit dormant?
Hello-
maybe but remember the 1st rule of real estate-location,
location, location.
I know there’s no subway near there but there are busses
Hello-
I wish the new management all the best but and there’s always a but. they will have the same problem Landmark did the location.
The theater will be opening in May 2023:
New York, NY: LOOK Dine-In Cinemas - W57th New York Opening in May [Apr 5, 2023]
Big Joe The theater here Carolina Cinemark that has food is very reasonable considering food prices. Also if you are a member you get 20% off plus they have monthly concession coupons. There was another chain here for several years a spin off of Regal called Cinebarre. They had table service and they were reasonable too. I get what you are saying Regal regular concession prices are ridiculous.
Mike (saps) - - the Alamo New Mission (SF) is a 15 min walk from me and yet I never go. Saw one film there (one of the Star Wars films) - the presentation was fantastic. Dual projected 3D (the best I’d ever seen) and knock your socks off sound. And a big screen. I am on their email list and they regularly have diverse screenings besides the first run fare. The employees tasked with bringing food did seem to have it down - they crouched and scurried almost unnoticeable. But you did notice people ordering food and it was a distraction. I just prefer a darkened theatre and no distractions - the dine in experience is not for me. But also very glad Alamo saved the theatre.
And yet the Alamo chain, who act like cinema-maniacs, seem to make the dining experience work.
