I’ve seen the pics on Cinema Tour and they are not pretty. It’s sad that it’s a liquor store and I know the people are just trying to make an honest buck, but they should take better care of that poor building.
I’m from Connecticut and I just took a look at the website. Ah Megami Sama! That place is beautiful, I hope it can still show classic films and maybe it can have Classical and Jazz concerts or cater to musicals such as Phantom of the Opera or Wicked when they tour. Oh, I hope everything turns out right. Connecticut just has a smattering of these beauties, one of the best is the Warner Theater and The Palace in Waterbury.
The National Trust Website says that it seated 2,500 and that it was Neo-Classical. She has some water damage too. I googled Capitol Theatre New London and I found one picture of the inside, I saw something that looked like balconies, it looks like she needs a lot of work.
The outside of it is so pretty, it reminds me of the Warner Theater in Torrington. If only the community can get together and fix it up, now that would be nice.
I forgot to put down that the building is called Whaler’s Wharf and the theater inside is run by New Art Cinemas. It’s state of the art and like I said a pretty nice place. It’s on the second floor and it will reopen on February 10, 2006, the anniversary of the fire.
I remember visiting this place when it was retail space and it still is after they rebuilt the place. It still looks the same too, I think I remember the lady telling me that they used old photographs to get it just right. It’s very beautiful now and I think it has an open ceiling. The coffee shop may still be there and so may the place where they sold shells and rocks. Also, there’s a theater in there that shows art films, it’s a pretty good sized one too. I saw a documentary on the theatre fire, the fire not only destroyed the theater, but did some damage to a few other buildings, like The Crown and Anchor. One last thing if you go out the rear of the building, you’ll see that old stone sign.
Can you go as far as Newington, Connecticut? This town needs a theater, yeah, there are other theaters in the surrounding towns. But this town is bland, I want to see a theater here again. There may be some good locations on the Berlin Turnpike and a few on Cedar and Willard.
Excellent, I’m glad it looks good, sounds like fun, I may visit this spring. Arcades don’t last too long, unless they’re in a mall or amusement park. I remember when my mother lived in an apartment right next door to the theater, I went in there before the renovation to see The Sandlot and that place was a sorry sight.
Was this place across the street from the Wadsworth? When I worked at Media Play, there was this man who used to come in and he would talk about how beautiful this place was. Wow, I remember picturing it.
Oh yeah, I forgot Cinema 1-2-3, I remember walking there once to see Batman Returns. I wish they would list it, as well as The Berlin Cinema in Berlin and The Paris Cinema in Wethersfield. Also Wethersfield had another theater too called The Webster. Thanks R.K.
I don’t know, check their website.

Great Kate needs to vent.
Well, I like the colored lights and the walls have a nice design too.
One last thing, the theater has 20 screens, not 18.
Hey, can the guy who runs The Witches Dungeon use this as a theater for his films or no?
It’s probably gone already, sad, what a waste.

I mean her face, sorry. Any more news on this sweet little gem?

Drove past it last night. It is just sitting there, closed and For Rent.
This is the place where the old Provincetown Theatre used to stand.

Well, I thought we had a large population here, but there are 29,306 people in this town. Sorry about that, but West Hartford has 64,225 people.

That would be such a nice idea.
Is this the theater with the best acoustics or is that the Garde?
I’ve been past this place a few times, next time, I’m going in to see a show.
This was also known as The Atomic wasn’t it?

I meant the Cine Webb, my bad.

Nice looking theatre from the outside, I love it’s mural. Hey, there’s also a coffee shop next to it. Those coffee shops sure do love movie palaces.
I hope it finds some new owners amd reopens. If it’s open now, then Spike-o here has egg
his face.
I love how this place looks, whenever I hear it’s story, it makes me happy to see the place is up and running. It’s a beautiful building.
