Wow, a theatre where change overs are actually made. It parked 350 cars in the late 50’s and was owned by HANNA THEATRE SERVICE which owned quite a few screens in that state.
Nick,Thanks so much for doing this for me.You don’t know how happy it makes me. I couldn’t attend the FRIENDS OF THE MILLER. I didn’t even have enough for child support or car insurance, but a check for a show i worked came in Saturday, while typing this BANK OF AMERICA calls on a holiday looking for money. Can you believe it. I hope to make an event for the FRIENDS OF THE MILLER,I have some items to give them, just didn’t have that extra 25.00.I am so glad Rochelle understood. Thanks again.Tlsloews wants you to print my DR.PHIBES one sheet on that CT site. I guess i will be mailing you a picture down. Thanks so much.
Hey,there is some guy on a New Jersey theatre that post something everyday about an AMC theatre up there. I wanted to get on COMMENTARY and say today,May 31 is CLINT EASTWOOD’S BIRTHDAY,HAPPY 80th Clint,PROUD to have shown most of your movies.
Chuck 1231,i wish i knew where it was located, living Augusta i had never heard of this or the Booker Drive-in until I found that moldy old 1956 motion Picture Almanac. I know they to have been near if not in the city limits especially,if they were for black moviegoers.
Would love to go to a theatre like that it would be like stepping back in time.I can’t stand all these stinking multiplexes.Worst thing that ever happened to “going to the Movie” not movies!!!
“TRUE GRIT,having opened at the IMPERIAL,then to Daniel Village theatre over to the first outdoor showing at the Weis Drive-in ends its first run status at FOREST HILLS.
Next time "TRUE GRIT” hit town it was a second feature.Seems at first “TRUE GRIT” was given the “M” RATING then released as a “G” rated flick.Unless a little violence was trimmed,it should have stayed a “M” rating.
Drove by there about a year ago, looks 100% better.Sidney Poitier,I think shot a movie there “SEPARATE BUT EQUAL” I think it shows the SALUDA theatre in the movie.
Well, tlsloews plez add to the drive-in.I know from reading CT members there are a few from Carolina, even though,i could be closer to Saluda.Sidney Poitier,in the early 90’s shot a movie in Saluda,I am pretty sure called “SEPARATE BUT EQUAL” i think the downtown theatre in the city square, the SALUDA, is seen in the film. There is some extra info. I think the SALUDA is on CT.
You need to get a flashlight park away from the theatre and see if you can find an exit door ajar. You would have a great time serching. I bet you knew the box office girl in the picture.
Okay,I can understand the STONES and BEATLES,but “Z” for a third feature. Ilove these old newspaper ads thanks guys for taking the time to put them on CT.
It is listed in the 1956 Motion picture almanac, but tells nothing on how many cars could park or who owned it back in the 50’s.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CLINT EASTWOOD,I know you filled that lot quite a bit.

Happy Birthday Clint Eastwood. You made my holiday season when we picked “THE ENFORCER” up from THE IMPERIAL. Dirty Harry played COLUMBIA County!
Happy Birthday CLINT EASTWOOD.I know alot of your movies did not play here, but “COOGAN’S BLUFF” rated M,did.
On that above picture,ONE of our YOUNG stagehands saw the picture taped in the union room and he thought THE BEATLES played Augusta.

In 1956 it parked 300 CARS and was owned by E.C.White.
Not as pretty as the IMPERIAL in Augusta.
Happy birthday Clint Eastwood,You put a lot of great movies on that screen like “DIRTY HARRY”.
Happy Birthday,Clint Eastwood.Put alot great flicks on that screen.
Would love to have that poster frame if they aren’t going to put a one sheet in it.Nice Drive-in one of the top five in looks in the South.

Yeah,if its got a business in it I am sure all the neat stuff is in the Nashville dump.

Don’t have the addresses in that almanac.
Get Nick to tell you about his exploring days.It is like Indiana Jones.especilly if the theatre is full of cat sized rats or birds coming at you.

This might have been the downtown theatre shown in the end credits on HAWAII 5-0 on season one dvd. Any local help out there in the Pacific.
Even here our theatres pretty much played that movie and no one else did. They started all this day and date crap after i left pretty much.
I have the same info above.
