Wonder why it did that kind of business there.Nick,Tampa and Nashville are pretty close in size, did Tampa play “Cuckoos Nest” that long. I know it was one of the four movies that opened MASTERS 4 Cinemas here, then it went to SOUTHGATE Cinema, but never in our town did it have legs like that.I am going back to read Melrose. I too, have “CUCKOO’S NEST” one sheet. And we never played it that i can remember.
Nick, do you think you could make me a copy of “HOW THE WEST WAS WON” i have a nephew who is slap crazy about John Wayne.I could frame it and make a great christmas gift.Last year i gave him a “WAR WARGON” lobby card framed and he said it was his best gift. Just wondering. Great ads I just keep looking over and over,You have a 2001 too i know.not in cinerama in know.
Robin,Nick and Tlsloews.I was on a mission to get that picture, the DM for Georgia theatres,Jeff Mobley snapped the picture.I took pieces of the screen.I had to do it.It would have been so easy to say, what the heck,It is an old theatre no one cares.I cared and got down there! I also hauled off a pick-up load of stuff from NATIONAL HILLS that was not going to the city dump.Nick,I don’t even remember sending you that picture.Should have been in my red ABC jacket.
Not that it matters, but Jeff Mobley use to date my ex-wife while they were in high school.Small world.theatre world. Robin, you might even know Jeff, sad picture,It was really sad being there.
My 1956 Motion pictureAlmamac has REVEL Drive-in,could be a misprint. Thanks Nick,It is just when you hit the small towns it is so hard to get the facts.
I spent quite a bit of time in La Follette growing up.I sure thought it was gone way before 1975.It must have been located off the main drag, because,The SKYWAY Drive-in,in that city was clearly on the road leading to 1-75. I wish i had the time and money to just hit the road and clear up about these Drive-ins I submitted.
BOB, that sounds right,It is a major intersection before going out to 1-26. A couple of years ago the screen was still up with a few white panels left.
Nick, this Drive-in the CLOVER-LEAF is right in town,no rural roads.
Bob.I will call the Bethaham Community Center,a black center for history of local African-americans.They would probably be the only source because THE AUGUSTA CHRONCILE has no ads what so ever on the BOOKER or Hi-De-Ho Drive-ins.Thanks for any help.
well, if they booked “GATOR” with “GONE WITH THE WIND” they would have had two Georgia based flicks. What double feature,Wish Burt,A Georgia Boy could see it.
usually a manager would never allow to tell the public how many seats you have, and you got the box office girl to tell you.Times Change I guess. that was always a closely guarded secret at the theatres i worked at.
Jonathan, it was owned in the 50’s by Houghton,McKay & Woodward.
See “THE CHEERLEADERS” was released as an R rated movie, must have been cut.1977 ad.

Was this drive-in called the MALLET’S BAY DRIVE-IN.That is all i can find in my 1956 motion picture almanac.
How could those three movies be rated X? did the manager not want kids on the Lot? Very tame horror films.
There is another theatre for you,Nick.
Hard to believe AMC and GCC were the big boys at one time and a outfit from Knoxville is on the top.

It was just really strange,Albany,is pretty good size city.
This is really strange.I checked my 1956 Motion picture almanac a not one drive-in is listed in this Capital city.Must have been a misprint.
I have a call out to CT member Ray Hutto,he might be the only one to be able to help us.
I can take the picture and have Nick post it.
Bob,I think it is going be hard to get alot of info on these small towns.
