Start working on the COLUMBIA 1and2 Theatres REUNION. You all put it together mail me a copy and i will make copies as I explained on the NATIONAL HILLS THEATRE site. Okay.
Oh, I will mail out the copies i make to the folks i worked with which is about 10 addresses. So you won’t have a bunch of postage. You can put you computer address on so they can contact you or my Address. Whatever. If we get a decent response of people wanting one then we will go for it I guess at Your place,or a restrauant somewhere.
Robin,You and Diane put together the info you are seeking to see what the response from old employees. What Time? What Day? that way you can judge the response.Certainly Put my name in for my old gang to know I am behind it.
Once you get a copy made mail one to me I plan to take the cover of my NATIONAL HILLS book and use it for a cover letter. They see it first and then read what you guys come up with. I think you should also push cinematreasures.org. I have told more than a few about CT,maybe you writing about all the stories will get peope to get on. Just ideas.
Rogerpen, She was so nice to us.We took pictures inside the booth. She posed for one shot with us. I know you guys will do great every night we made it up from Augusta, after a day at Carowinds, that place was jumping. I knew to get there early and we were near the back even then. She told me part of the screen was old fence that was used when HUGO came through. I have always wanted to hit KINGS MTN,Drive-in. Drove by one afternoon, but we just pull in off 1-85 and we are there. I hope we can make it up,but if not all the best, I have a rather strange story on the Diane 29 Drive-in there if you care to read it and confirm if it’s true or not. I HEARD IT FROM A RESIDENT THERE.
The flyers Diane and you are thinking about are a good way to gauge the response. But I think when you get down to it we will have to pick a weekend that hopefully folks don’t have a big vacation planned.
Okay, I have several addresses, and i might be wrong, they might not mind driving to your place,so I will get them in the mail to you. I would love to see everyone.
It is amazing how many Drive-in Theatres were in this city in 1974. August 9 1974 your OAKLEY Drive-in was playing that horrible movie “BORN LOSERS” which was playing day and date with several other walk-in and Drive-in Theatres. The second feature was a DICK VAN DYKE comedy which shows crazy bookings, “COLD TURKEY” both rated PG.
I personally liked the old single screen theatre. I think once you have more than a triple or quad. You lose the THEATRE experience.Anyone from the business in the 70’s to early 80’s; like I was will back me 100%.
Saw" Jeremiah Johnson"and there we actully put a couple of guys in the trunk. Guess everyone has. Saw “SERPICO” there and a little sleeper second hit “BANG THE DRUM SLOWLY” “RETURN OF THE DRAGON” and “FIVE FINGERS OF DEATH”. It was a great drive-in.
A very brief history. In 1956 it is owned by P&H Amusement Co. There was no listing on how many cars could get in.
You guys get it put together as I explained on the NATIONAL HILLS THEATRE site and I will help getting them out to the people I worked with.
