Amazing that this $2.00 a seat theatre is clean and has no trouble; Granted it is in the “good part” of town,Drove by the other night, doing good business.
I have commented hundreds of times about this so called Theatre Business,Sure, it was a Business when I worked for ABC,PLITT and GCC,However, back then to almost a man, weren’t many ladies managing, they were showmen,We had trained UNION operators, not teenage kids trying to figure out how to lay the candy girl.Moviegoers were treated like moviegoers,Today, sadly only cattle in these monster screen houses,Yep, Glad I got out in 1983.I saw this coming.
From the Augusta Chroncile, dec 30 2011,augustachroncile.com,what is left of my National Hills theatre,Mainly that huge theatre is being converted into a 8.000 sq.ft. Ball room.and convention center,Being across from the Augusta National, home of the MASTERS,you can bet it will be used once a Year, and sit lifeless the rest of the year, What a waste,Called “THE LEGENDS CLUB” it won’t be open for regular folks.
30 screens,it is just insane, this world was much better off with one and two screens Theatres.Hell. today they[moviegoers} are nothing but cattle,Glad I got in 1983.
It was Augusta’s Largest,if they expand stage, which they will have to do, they figure to lose about 500 seats.Right now there are NO seats on the bottom only the balcony.
Drove by my old theatre and workers are working on all that is left of the THe Theatre itself,Legends of Golf will house this old theatre during the MASTERS.thought about walking up and stealing a cement brick, still might do it,Dang I miss that wonderful old place, but on my Facebook page I have put plenty that haven’t made it on Cinematreasures.
