I was incorrect about December 29.

But, the RPX that has been under renovation for forever still hasn’t reopened. There is the court filing which allows for Regal to reject the lease as of January 15, https://www.reddit.com/r/RegalUnlimited/comments/yov0hh/new_list_of_leases_to_be_rejected_in_bankruptcy/ and as of now this is the only Regal in NYC not selling tickets after January 12. The event in March is no longer on sale.

There are some locations on that list where new lease terms must have been agreed. The Ballston Common and the Lincolnshire are on the PDF but have tickets on sale well into 2023. But the E-Walk is on that list, and ain’t got seats on sale after January 12. And 22 months since NYC movie houses reopened, box office is still way way down, and yet not a single Manhattan multiplex is going to be a casualty? There are 25 screens across the street, another dozen on 34th Street. If there is to be a casualty…

But I was wrong about Dec. 29, and who knows, maybe the landlord will reduce the rent by 75% or something in the next couple weeks.

The area around Times Square does not start closing down on 12/29. Granted some security measures might start being put in place then. Both of the complexes on 42nd St historically screen movies til around 4pm. Broadway shows run matinees only. So there'a lack of logic on that point.

Joshua had made a claim based on speculation and lack of showtimes for a month out. I was able to refute that with further evidence provided through the Fandango app.

If he or any of the posters can provide indisputable evidence of the closure, please post it up.

Incorrect to base your assumption upon that

Slots for something called “The Thorn” are available for sale March 6 & 7 of 2023.( I learned did doing a search of the complex using the Fandango app)

If something official comes from Regal, then by all means post it.There’s enough half truths & conspiracy theories in other parts of online life - please don’t bring them here.

Looks like the last day of business for the Regal E-Walk will be December 29. Other Regal locations in the city have various showings for advance sale in January, but nothing to be found here.

Given this was still a top national theatre they more than likely will find a new tenant. I would expect Cinemark to take it on since they virtually have no NYC presence and they have been picking up top location. Only reason no one would pick it up is if the landlord decides to convert to another use.

If it closes, I doubt another chain would come in unless they want to compete with AMC Empire

That’s crazy, they spend money on renovation this location for a 4th time and the work isn’t complete

Suitable location for Cinemark or an overseas based chain to get into NYC.

Regal can shutter the theater as soon as January 15th The list of rejected leases includes Regal Cinemas in Turnersville, NJ, Hyannis, MA, and on West 42 Street in New York City’s Time Square known as the E-Walk Stadium 13. The balance of the theaters area spread around the nation.

Los Angeles is center of the movie making industry - why not there?

Because Times Square is the center of the world.

I read the article and it didn’t mention the 42nd St location, or any complex by name. Why post it just here and not in every Regal page?

Things are not going well at Cineworld/Regal.

uploaded a view of the new Regal blade taken from the exit of the AMC across the street.

I uploaded some photos of the new REGAL marquee signs. I assume the Japanese writing that appears occasionally behind the “REGAL” name is a “BULLET TRAIN” promo.

the current box office is in around one third the space of the original box office, not the former Starbucks space, which is still there and empty. The Regal lettering has been taken off the blade sign that was one of the distinctive features of the exterior, and there’s smaller Regal signage below the blade and above the entrance. And across the street the Empire has some rolls of carpeting in the corridors.

E-Walk is currently under it’s third renovation that Regal has done on this theatre, First time in 2007 after they bought it from Loews Cineplex to rebrand Regal with new seating, #2 was in 2017 was conversion to recliners and 2022 another renovation in addition of Screen X in theatre 2, 4DX moving to Theatre 12 and RPX with Atmos being updated with new seating no recliners according to the manager. They don’t know the grand opening date as of May 13, 2022. I don’t understand why AMC is cheap that the AMC Empire 25 hasn’t received any major renovations.

It looks like the new lobby has an area for a box office, but it’s not in use. There is a series of about eight kiosks in the lobby. People are told to go to concessions upstairs if paying by cash, etc..

Work is due to start soon on the theater upstairs. Rumors of a bar in the area of the old Coca Cola Freestyle to be made.

I was told yesterday that theater 12 will become the new auditorium for 4DX. And theater 2, which currently has 4DX, will become a ScreenX.

I assume that theater 12 will be changed first.

The local Regal here told me that they are removing all box offices in all their theaters and replacing them with Kiosks. That pisses me off because it take away jobs

How wonderful to know this space is being re-cycled into more retail space, and no doubt, fast-food outlets. BTW, we also screen movies!!!!

Late Nov 2021/Early December 2021

Renovations begin to update E-Walk appearance to the new, updated Regal design (similar to Essex Crossing and the Union Square update). Work started on the entrance/box-office area first using the space previously used by Starbucks. The original entrance / box-office area closed around second week of December 2021. That space is supposedly going to a new Target coming next door.

Work stopped at top of lower escalators, with more changes to come.

From what I’ve been reading on CT AMC theatres are like the ones of the former UA; not known for good maintenance.

The Regal Theaters are in much better condition than the AMC and better kept. The bathrooms are cleaner as well.

This cinema is still open despite its location being just across from AMC Empire 25. In my opinion, it doesn’t make any sense. I kinda relate this rivalry to Colossus Vaughan vs AMC Interchange 30 or AMC Ontario Mills 30 vs Regal Edwards Ontario Palace 21.
