I have a confusion. Why didn’t they start installing the laser projector last year ?What are they waiting for? Is it because the movie tickets sold well at that time so no need to change? Or is it because the laser equipments are so expensive, and they cannot afford it + they think it’s not worth to change? Or is it just because of that ******* permission from the city?Maybe they are never going to do it.
AMC prime at empire 25 is awesome! I went there today, only the screen looks smaller, but all the others are superb.
Just know this theatre exist from the comments below, it’s now my favorite theatre in nyc :)
It seems like if the renovation does not begin at the end of the first week showing Deadpool, we will have to wait another 3 or 4 months to get the laser IMAX. They won’t skip any of these blockbusters Deadpool, Allegiant,BvS, the Jungle Book, Civil War, Alice and Warcraft which will surely generate huge revenues during their opening weekends.
The website no longer indicates the Hateful Eight is 70mm and the runtime is only 2:47, so i’m assuming it’s shown in digital now? BTW, how can I know if it will be shown in King or Lowes when purchasing the ticket online?
I watched “MAD MAX: FURY ROAD"in IMAX 3D at this theater last year. It was digital but it gave me the BEST movie experience ever in my life (my father said the same thing after watched it). I don’t know how excited I will be if it was in laser or 70mm :) wish to see it again in 2016, but never gonna happen I know:(
Every IMAX theater in NYC is digital, that’s why. Only the 70mm IMAX is the real IMAX(I believe it only exists in museums now). Laser IMAX is good as well. Only 70mm and Laser can do 1:1.44 which fill up the entire screen. Digital can only display 2.35 or 1.85.correct me if I’m wrong.
Watched the SW7 here today and saw the posters of the finest hour, deadpool and divergent. Seems like they are going to show these three movies from february to mid march, but how can they install the laser IMAX before BVS? :((((((((((
So disappointed that even New York City doesn’t have one decent movie theater. Wish there is one here like the TCL chinese theater in Los Angel or the one in Sydney which are so beautifully designed from outside and equipping with the best IMAX inside. Come one NYC.!!!!!!!
Thanks xbs2034. But according to IMDb, SW7 has some scenes in 1.43:1 aspect ratio. Can digital IMAX at Lincoln square fully display those scenes to fill its giant screen?
I’m gonna see Crimson peak next week, I guess its 1.85:1 ratio will take up more screen space than “the walk”’s 2.35:1. Am I right?
And Really looking forward to have laser at Amc Lincoln square.
Thanks for the replies. So if it’s true that 15/70mm is still installed there, It’s a good sign that 15/70mm may be used to project the star war 7??? I desperately want to see SW7 in the real IMAX!!!
ok, so I did some research. There are two kinds of iMax, namely digital imax and 15/70mm IMAX. And digital iMax is considered to be the"fake iMax" while 15/70 is the real IMAX. That means the Amc at Lincoln square is also a fake iMax just like most of the other iMax around the country, and this IMAX theater is no longer superior than others in terms of picture quality? Please Correct me if I’m wrong, I’m new to IMAX.

wow, really!?! Laser IMAX is not going to happen this month. March or later? So many rumors, which one to trust?
@xbs2034, aren’t those IMAX scenes pointless on the digital projection screen since the images are not 1.44:1???

BvS and the jungle book will be two great movies to see in laser. Will be very disappointed if laser IMAX doesn’t happen before bvs.

moviebuff82, I believe only the 70mm version of TH8 is shown in this theater, currently.

Giles, I cannot wait to see IMAX laser!!!!!
Does AMCLoews LS13 have the biggest IMAX screen in the country? I know certainly not the biggest in the world.
Which is better, 70mm or IMAX laser.
