I think this theatre building might the one seen briefly during the opening scene of the movie “Herbie rides again”, showing the building on the right being imploded(among other buildings being shown demolished too).
On 11/7/1977 Herbie(The Love Bug) along with other immortals of the silver screen, placed it’s wheel marks in cement outside the Chinese Theatre, before people to watch a screening of the movie, “Herbie goes to Monte Carlo”.
Opened as 3 screens on 16/8/1968 on screen 1 with “Goodbye Columbus” and “Georgy Girl” and on screen 2 with “The love god?” and “Death of a gunfighter” and on screen 3 with “The valley of Gwangi” and “Dracula rises from the grave”.
Opened on 2/10/1968 on the north screen with “The lost continent” and “The vengeance of she” and on the south screen with “ The detective” and “Come spy with me”.
Opened as Chevy Chase cinema on 14/6/1967 with “Caprice”. Reopened as a twin on 25/6/1981 with 2 cartoons(not named), an old newsreel and “State of the union”.
Opened as 4 screens on 27/3/1981 on screen 1 with “Raging Bull” and “Comes a horseman” and on screen 2 with “A change of seasons and "An unmarried woman” and on screen 3 with “The dogs of war” and “The big red one” and on screen 4 with “The increbible shrinking woman” and “Car wash”.
