That October 5th 1952 print ad does not mention it as a Grand Opening.
Particularly with what amounts to a second run film.
The history link I posted above is specific that it opened August 9, 1952 with “The African Queen”.
Here is a working link for the opening credits of “The Wanderers” set in 1963, filmed in 1978. RKO Fordham Theatre at the head end. Previous link went dead.
The films on the marquee were the same two at the Texas Theatre where Oswald was caught after the slaying of JFK.
An event also noted in the film.
The 8th Avenue marquee can be seen in the below video at 1:48 and 2:59, and the 42nd Street marquee at 3:03.
The head end is Chicago, so they have the description reversed.
I uploaded a cropped version of the same postcard which is a little crisper.
Also here is the 1909 Moving Picture World reference to the Vaudette Theatre via Broan.
Great thanks!
I will set up a page for it.
That gives the address, though before the latter 1911 Street Renumbering after the Loop in 1909.
And the Chicago History Museum has cut off access to the 1911 pdf, but we’ll go with what we have for now.
Englewood and Broan, I was forwarded a postcard image of the Vaudette Theatre on 63rd near Halsted as mentioned above.
It may have been vaudeville only however and did not show films. As the promotions above the entrance do not come back as film titles.
CinemaTour doesn’t even have the other Vaudette on 92nd Street, so no help there.
If the 63rd Street Vaudette is proven to have had films, I will set up a page for it.

Update: Likely October 1967, Lansbury’s return after vacation sign changes.
The motel is gone. There is a Home Depot on the site today.
davidocoppock, it opened August 9, 1952. The ad reads “Grand Opening Tomorrow”, which would have been the 9th in a newspaper dated the 8th.
Nice! Thanks!

Some artistic license as that film came out 2 years after the United Artists was demolished.

Address was 111 South Lane.
Was still a fenced, vacant lot in the July 2014 street view.
