I’m not speaking for Ross & Patrick, but a discussion of a collection of souvenir programs that don’t relate to a particular theater IS going off topic. Ed, some of your post above would seem relevant to the Radio City page on this website. There are conversation threads over at cinematour

For people who have been posting them here, and those who don’t know- there are exterior & auditorium photos of this one on cinematour. It doesn’t matter if other websites steal those photos. THIS website has a policy against that so those photos have been removed.

HowardBHaas commented about Theater showing only 'golden age' movies proposed in Westwood on Jul 12, 2012 at 11:13 am

DVDs projected via the equivalent of a slide projector (rather than a 2k or 4k movie industry projector)? Or 35mm?

And, by digital, 2k or 4k (both being real movie theater projection) or DVD projected via the equivalent of a slide projector?

HowardBHaas commented about County Theater on Jul 11, 2012 at 1:08 pm

Thanks, The County Theater, which shows first-run, art, independent, and foreign films, is “ahead of the curve” for small theaters, Toner said. Its 4,100 members and other supporters responded to a Digital Cinema Challenge by surpassing the $200,000 goal for a minimal conversion.

The additional $110,000 paid for a full conversion, including 3D in one auditorium, projectors with capacity for 4,000 lines of resolution (2,000 lines is the current standard), new screens, and other equipment. Rick. From that article, here are the details:

HowardBHaas commented about Royal Theatre on Jul 9, 2012 at 8:42 am

Below is from today (July 9, 2012) Philadelphia Inquirer article on South Street:

The other major sore spot is the abandoned Royal Theater owned by Kenny Gamble’s Universal Companies.

“In another couple of years, the building will fall over,” said Feibush of OCF Realty. “It’s in terrible shape. It can be fixed. A dozen developers would love to turn it into something beautiful.” So far, Gamble’s group has only proposed leaving the facade up and building houses behind it, Feibush said, and the community rejected that plan.

Universal Companies did not return several calls for comment.

If if there isn’t publicity in the media, it may not do well. I’ve enjoyed a 35mm print at the Colonial in Phoenixville. Is this one 2 k or a lesser format? Originally 35mm, the only way I want to see it.

I enjoyed one movie in the main auditorium here which still gave and old fashioned real movie going experience. There’s no pictures online of the auditorium as it is now, or historic photos of lobby, auditorium, etc. Can somebodyplease now photo the main auditorium?

HowardBHaas commented about Dolby reveals theaters set to install Atmos on Jun 19, 2012 at 12:12 pm

I found a video online explaining the process. In theory it is a fantastic improvement. But each speaker will have different sound. So what happens when a speaker breaks? Movie theater chains don’t always keep in great order their existing speakers….

HowardBHaas commented about Charles Cinema on May 19, 2012 at 7:12 pm

The Music Hall wasn’t showing movies on a daily basis in the 1980s. I’m started to read your comment that the Cinema 57 had a larger screen. I don’t recall what kind of movies they were showing. I don’t see photos online that depict a huge screen. I only see the few at cinematour. The best screen that I enjoyed was the Charles.
