This theatre goes back to the early 1920’s when it was known as the Arcade, in 1935 it was renamed the State Theatre and in the late 1970’s it was renamed the Martin followed by the Cottonwood Cinema. The page on the State Theatre should be combined with this page.
The Bluebird Theatre has the same address listed as this theatre. I think this is the correct address for the Highland Theatre but not for the Bluebird.
The Bluebird Theatre was listed as open in 1925 with 750 seats. The Bluebird was still listed as open in 1957 with 688 seats. Looking at the satelite view, the pink building don’t look large enough to have seated 750 or 688. I don’t think that the address of 415 was the Bluebird Theatre.
The Dakota Theatre is listed as open in 1951 and there is no listing for the Majestic Theatre in the same year. The Majestic’s last listing as open was in 1950.
The American Legion Post 118 was founded in 1947. I can find no listing for the State Theatre prior to 1947. The only other theatre listed for Hartford was the Palace Theatre. The State Theatre was listed at the 120 N. Main Street. It could have been that the theatre was on one floor and the American Legion on another. Both are listed at the same address though. The Palace theatre was listed at 119 N. Main St. which is the senior citizen center across the street from the American Legion Hall.
On the Regal website this is listed as the Regal Gallatin Valley Cinemas.
The Orpheum was listed as open in 1920 but not listed at all after 1927. Seating was listed at 144.
