2010 was 35mm.I was out of the business, but knew the staff there and projectionists.somewhere in all those older Posts I have listed all the 70mm to play there.
Thanks dhroc for a nice intro. We gave puppies away once on “BENJI” and never could get the smell out of the letter room where they stayed at night.LOL.
thanks tina, those Billboard movie sheets would be worth a lot of money, I have a shot of the screen long after it Closed. Thanks for getting the pictures on.
YEP,you got out in on the tail end of the real Theatre business.Promotions like Zack liked would be laughed at Today.I remember dressing up like the Marx Brothers to run around the Late Show crowd waiting to see “DUCK SOUP"tied a big Camel on my car to promote "HAAWPS”.Not done today.
No thrills cinema seen from thr Expressway.Frankly, Athens.like most towns were better off with the screens they had when I was There in the early 80’s.Basically,they have about the same number of screens.JUst under two roofs,LOL.
Thank goodness you and Russell are on.I worked with Russell at GCC,I have theatre buddies from Augusta that love talking the old days 74-79,but for the life of ME they will not get on CT.It drives me crazy.
Boy Trey,I wish you would have had a camera and took some pictures of the cinema.I went over there once when the mall was on its last legs and snapped a picture of the front Box office only to have to “SECURITY MALL GUARDS” chase me down wanting to know why Was taking pictures.I have gotten into the 8 plex down the road a few times, but the last time i went for exploring someone had welded the exit door shut.I am Surprized someone hasn’t reopened the SOUTHGATE Cinema for Spanish films, that 8 back plex should have been in North Augusta where it might just
still be open,That area is UNDER screened big time.
I don’t think this cinema has Twenty one screens. They put the IMAX in an existing theatre,Not that I care. I wasn’t impressed with Imax, just another way to get an extra three bucks from a dumb public.
Guess you will never know when you hit two thousand posts.Justin.
Thanks Joe.
So you remember MASTERS 4,Trey.

“GIT” meant GOT out.Sounds like “DELIVERANCE”.
Glad I git out in 1983,I saw it coming while at GCC.wanting us to close the booth up and let the projectionist go.I wasn’t hired to run film!!!!!
You doggone right,Russell,I owe you a LOTTA LEMOM.

Thanks Trey,we needed some folks from Augusta to get on.I have written about all i can.
You could hear the Concessionstand area too.Think the seating is wrong. No way it ever held over 1000 people.
Trey,you should have seen 2001 0n it in 70mm.
I tried to tell the big shots at GCC to put it in North Augusta,They listened alright. No GCC anymore.
