Will deterioration rapidly consume this wonderful place?
I do hope after reading postings about how the Madison died an untimely death, that my thoughts of “Deja Vu All Over Again” (Yogi Berra) does not occur here.
When you really look at the big picture, time is really not on Ridgewood’s side, the owner may perhaps be unscrupulous, and looking to accelerate the deterioration to lead to events that will forever seal its fate. If you read the postings for the Commodore, I feel that unless control is established over this property, the same fate that consumed Madison and Commodore may be in the future.

MPol,
A lot of the newer Multi -Plex’s in the outer reaches of the city do well, prior to the economic crisis ,such as the Sunrise in Nassau County, which incidentally, was formerly a Drive In.

MPol,
Thank you for your reply concerning preserving old movie palaces.
I do agree mult- plex theaters are nowhere near the experience of attending a film at a traditional theater, one gets a sense of being in an extraordinary venue, while enjoying the great American pastime there. However from what I hear, prior to the unfortunate
demise of the economy, these modern theaters do thrive well in many urban areas.

Amazing how beautiful an old theater can look when it receives “Tender Loving Care”. That’s why its such a crime that all this society wants to do is raze them and build condos or stores.

The old Oasis roller rink, it was quite the place back in the Disco 70’s. Its so hard to imagine that, when walking into that drab CVS today.

It is sad however that the interior could not be saved, according to previous posts, there are no interior remnants of the theater.

Indeed Lost Memory,
And to think ,it was almost “B.S. Moss Beacon Theater”.
Peter, hope you can view these images somehow!

Lost Memory,
Thanks, the etching does appear to proclaim “B.S. Moss Madison Theater”. My eyes are not what they used to be.
Perhaps there was a last minute change in Madison’s actual design. The earliest pictures show the blade type sign, which would have blocked the stone etching. The sign really projects what a once proud theater this was.

Interesting artist’s rendering of the facade of Madison, the area below the arch was to contain a stone etching proclaiming “Madison Theater”, which was never added to the actual design. The first few words are illegible to me, can anybody see what they say?

Indeed Luis V., Ms. Pelosi’s death is a tragic loss and cause for even more concern of the future of the Keith’s.

I’m not sure if he is still performing for the public, but I do beleive he also had a stint on radio, I believe it was on the former K Rock station, in the early 90’s.

Warren masks for Halloween? That could be very interesting.
Seeing that I already roamed the elaborate aisles of the RKO Keith’s Richmond Hill (and took pictures) the prize that Peter mentioned is still up for grabs, and I do intend on getting those pics, but I hope I’m as lucky as Bway was to gain access (with no pics!)

Sorry Peter,
Cant name any more.
Wonder what Warren is wearing for Halloween?
I would like a Wrigley’s spearmint before I go to the balcony.
