You mention downtown population. Hopefully that may return. The mayor of Pittsburgh wants to bring business as well as living back to downtown (especially along Fifth and Forbes). Plus many of downtown’s universities and colleges are opening new dornitories in the golden Triangle as well. I hope that maybe they can ressurect the Warner back into a theater if all is successful.
I think Manos was a local (?) chain here in Western PA, but not in the immediate Pittsburgh area. I think thier theaters were located in the surrounding counties, such as Greensburg and Monessen.
I was just up in Squirrel Hill last night. Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream sits on the site. The front of the building does not resemble a theater, but if you go around back and look at the back of the building, you can see some interesting Greek style designs on the building.
I rode by there for the first time this evening and I love the classic look of the marquee outside! Beautiful exterior! I haven’t been inside yet though.
You would think they would need a bigger marquee to advertise what movies are playing.
Here is a photo to the entrance to the theater

I think a Crossroads Mimi Mart is in that location now.
I read the same thing about the mini mall. I just can’t seem to imagine that in that location.

That’s odd. The website may be down. I’ll post it if it’s back up again.
Does anyone know where the theater was located?
Is the Enright still there?
This is the only drive-in left in Allegheny County (the county Pittsburgh is located)

I found an old picture of the Chatham at the library. If I can get a hold of it, I’ll try to post it.
It kind of looks like a lighthouse. Neat!
I see the picture. Thank you wolfgirl! :)
I don’t know the theater or the Youngstown area very well at all, but this is defenitey great news! A theater has been saved!
Are there extrerior pix anywhere?

I clicked on the last link (of the recent marquee pic). The caption mentions Michael Stipe (REM). What does he have against the theater?
Here is a picture of the Leona.

Brentwood is a suburb of Pittsburgh.
Yep, both are the same.
Yes that is the correct address.
I hit a road block at the library. They had more drawings and old black and white newspaper articles that show the Whitehall in a distance.
