Paul, interesting, your grandfather would be proud! If you think of anything else, please add it.
If you go to the Google Map and the street photo, it shows the buildings in the block (if it’s the right block) is the theater in the photo? If yes, tell us which building it is.
I don’t know if this is correct or not, but I found it was open from 1935-1955 and had 522 seats?
I also found a Penn Theater at Penn Ave & Butler St (which is basically the same spot) that had 3,480 seats?????? Don’t know what that’s all about?
I wonder if Boxoffice didn’t get things a little mixed up? Milltown is the town two towns south of Frederic and I know it did have a theater. Seems sorta odd for Frederic to name a theater Milltown?
Back in the 1980’s I went to school at 1425 Prince Avenue, Athens, Georgia. That’s the U.S. Naval Supply Corps School. Click on the map and the Google Map’s Red Dot goes right on it. The drive-in site was on the same street! If I had know about it I would have looked for the drive-in or it’s remains!
“Regret, I have a few!”
I really like Athens and now that I’m up near Chicago, I’ve got a taste for some Krystals.
Now here’s a theater I might know something about before I do any checking! My brother and his wife live 2 towns south of Frederic and I THINK I’ve been to the Holiday Gas Station Store and seems to me they have a Dariy Queen too. I think the name Frederic comes from some Danish or other Scandinavian Monarch?
A few years ago my sister-in-law told me she applied for the job of director of the Frederic Public Library, but she never got the job, but has got other libray jobs in Polk County. The interesting thing, to me, was when she told me that the library was in an OLD MOVIE THEATER that had been remodeled!!
I can’t find any Main Street in Frederic.
The Frederic Public Library is at 127 Oak Street West.
Pehaps they changed the name of the street?
I do not know the name of the theater the Library is now in?
The preesnt population of the town is 1,233 so I doubt it ever had 2 theaters, but one never knows do one?
Folks help me out. I haven’t been in the Tampa area in a few years. When I go to the Google Map, it shows me the entire southern half of the United States?
I did find an address of 3002 West Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, which is now the address for St Josephs Childrens Hospital, is that correct?
West Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard & North Nimes Avenue might also be the location, but which corner?
It would really be better to have an address, more info and how bout some photos?
