The caption said Paramount Miami FL. There could have been another theater with the same name, but given the monopoly held by the studios in the 20s and 30s, I doubt they would have been in business very long.
I drove by this theater a few weeks ago. I have a digital photo, but I’m still working on transferring those here. The ground floor was retail, including a Chinese resturant, if I recall correctly. The neigborhood was not that great.
I’ll justify the addition of this photo by pointing out the Warner marquee at the far end, but I enjoyed the rest of the photo much more: http://tinyurl.com/ofrmb
That’s an interesting story. I think sometimes we have romantic ideas about some of these old theaters, but the reality is that some can be saved and others have to be demolished for practical, safety and financial reasons.

This is a 1924 interior photo, assuming that there was only one Paramount in Miami at that time:

I went to Shep’s Deli once in the mid 80s, then years later I saw it was gone. I think it was east of Overland on the south side of Pico.
Interesting photos. Thanks.

I know about the older Belmont High in LA, as well as the newer fiasco on Beaudry. Was there another Belmont High before that? What was the location?
