This is the original Fausto Theater, build in the corner of Prado and Colon, property of Luis EStrada. It was inaugurated October 15 of 1915 and was the second theater in Cuba, after the Campoamor Theater to show talking movies. In 1938 was reconstructed as the Art Deco cinema of the same name that stands today by the architect Saturnino M. Parejon
The photo shows the machine used to project images of the Universe in the new Habana Planetarium located in the site of the former Cine Habana. The machine was donated from Japan to Cuba.
The former Strand Theater has been renovated and converted in El Palacio de la Rumba { The Rumba Palace}. A place to see folkloric rumba troupes and also traditional big bands who play the old style charanga and son montuno music.
The Cine Cloris is located on the first floor of the Hotel Santa Clara [former Santa Clara Hilton]. It’s name was changed to Camilo Cienfuegos after the triumph of the Castro revolution
Before being close for good, it’s name was changed from Roosevelt, honoring the great american President to Guisa, location where Fidel Castro fought a battle during the Cuban Revolution.
The cine Miramar was rebuild and re opened in March of 2011. The restoration features a new auditorium and 460 new seats, the stage has been sprung and extended by 12 ft. and a cafe/piano bar was added in the back. The screen is now move able, ensuring the audience to watch movies and multimedia performances too
The Theater Milanes, is the older in the city of Pinar del Rio. In colonial times was named Lope de Vega Theater, until 1898, when Cuba become an independent nation.
The upper part of the building volume in the Cine Roosevelt was deconstructed, only the ground floor left. Hard to identify it as a former cinema. Today it houses a community health center.
The Cine Habana is being reconstructed as a planetarium. Situated next to the Fototeca de Cuba and the Camera Oscura is an effort to make the area around the Plaza Vieja more alluring to tourists.

This theater name was changed to Cine Meca after the triumph of Castro’s regime.

It is the biggest theater in Pinar del Rio and one of the bigger in the island, boasting a seated capacity of 2900.
This theater was repaired and is showing movies again.
It was the bigger theater in Santiago de Cuba with more that 2000 seats.
Cine Aguilera, burned in the 60’s, it was never repaired.

Theater Florencia was renamed Pionero, showing children programs. It’s located in the Havana neighborhood of Cayo Hueso, San Lazaro 1064.
