It was named after the 19th Century poet Jose Jacinto Milanes y Fuentes. The entrance has a colonnaded portico which extends across the front of the building. Inside the auditorium, there are three balconies, which extend along the side-walls to the proscenium. The fronts of the balconies have decorative metal grillwork.
