Located in the town of Pinar del Rio to the west of Havana, at Marti and Calle Colon. The Teatro Milanes is the oldest movie theatre in the city. It was named after the 19th Century poet Jose Jacinto Milanes y Fuentes. The entrance has a colonnaded portico which extends across the front of the building. Inside the auditorium, there are three balconies, which extend along the side-walls to the proscenium. The fronts of the balconies have decorative metal grillwork.

The Theater Milanes, is the older in the city of Pinar del Rio. In colonial times was named Lope de Vega Theater, until 1898, when Cuba become an independent nation.
Cuba became an independent republic on Tuesday, May 20, 1902. On Sunday, January 1st, 1899 at 12:00 noon the U.S. occupation started.
