Once upon a time this was known as S&M Department store. I have long suspected this was a former movie theatre because when you go to where the cash registers are now it’s like an L shape similar to many other theatres.
I recall another Rick Nelson viewing room that was located in one of the bookshops. You had to go to the back and there was a stair to go downstairs. You paid 5 bucks by inserting into a machine and in you went. It was a small viewing room
The only original area of the theatre still remaining is the balcony but that was used as a separate theatre years ago. However it still retains the original chairs.
I was in the area today and took some photos of the Paramount and one of the Adams'….I doubt these movie palaces will be resurrected. But I hope I’m wrong.
I remember how small the ‘lobby’ was and the concession stand was directly behind the auditorium. This was definitely no palace but I saw ABBY, RUBY, SINBAD movies at this place.
There is a building at 69 Graham Avenue, formerly Schecter’s Furniture store and it looks like it was a movie theatre. I will try and take a picture and post it.
I liked this theatre very much. And even more so when it was a $2.00. What a shame it didn’t last. I remember the old Adonis on the next block.
Here is an aerial view

First a movie and then heading to Tad’s Steak for dinner.
How did you access to this part of the theater?
Nicholas thanks for the great pictures. But how did you get into the projection room and ‘backstage’ areas? Really great. Thanks
What did the interior of the Cinart look like? It’s too bad there aren’t more interior shots of these theaters.
The balcony is now open.
Here is a link with pictures that show the interior of the Globe as used for a nightclub.

How convenient that a fire broke out the same time as they were trying to save it. What occupies this site now?
markp yes I remember seeing the name Proctor on a wall when I went to see the Adams.
The status should show ‘demolished’.

What a shame..I doubt this place will be restored. There is a sign advertising there is 20,000 square feet of retail space.
How did you get in?
How did you manage to get inside the theatre? Thanks for sharing.
My older brother worked for a time at the gas station.

I am wondering how long before they tear this down for new construction. The bodega that was next door for almost 50 years recently closed.
Was it closed due to poor attendance?
They just opened up the balcony.
