Saw Frankenweenie in 2D 4k last night. It was pretty good. The animation at times was a bit herky jerky but that’s what the director of the film intended it to be. Soundtrack was great and crowd was well behaved. Too bad the auditorium was a bit messy with some pieces of popcorn on the floor. At least the workers at amc will clean it up after the show is over. Next movie i want to see is Argo.
The Perks of Being a Wallflower will play at this theater this weekend. Skyfall in imax digital and regular 4k tickets are now on sale as well. Skyfall will be my fifth James Bond film that I’ll see on the big screen. Tomorrow Never Dies in 5.1 SDDS (Loews Wayne), The World is Not Enough in Dolby Digital 6.1 EX (GC Clifton Commons), Die Another Day in DTS ES(Clearview Mansfield), and Quantum of Solace in 5.1 Dolby Digital (this theater), which i saw twice.
This past weekend was busy at amc. Hotel Transylvania was #1 and Looper was #2. Can’t believe the batman movie is still playing in this theater after a few months. The bluray will come in December. I went to see Paranorman in 2D at AMC in one of the smaller screens. Picture quality was pretty good for a claymation flick. Has some thrills and chills. Advanced tickets are on sale for Twilight Breaking Dawn part 2, and shows start at 10 p.m. the day before the movie comes out. Kinda early before midnight, but that helps the young twihards who want to see this final vampire romance movie. Hobbit tickets go on sale in November. Any word on when Skyfall tickets go on sale?

The master is playing in 70mm at this theater alongside the digital version of the art house movie. Next weekend an IMAX print of the film produced by PTA will be shown at this theater. It’s breaking records already.
This is the only THX certified theater left in NYC, according to the THX website, as the other theaters have been remodeled (Essex Green and Bridgewater Commons) into dine-ins.
Raiders of the Lost Ark will be playing in digital 4k on friday since Resident Evil 5 3D will be playing in 3D, 2d, and Imax 3D. Finding Nemo is back in 3D on a lot of screens for a limited time. Not a lot of good movies coming this fall until the holiday season. I cannot wait for “The Master” in 4k. And “Wreck it Ralph” in 3D. Also “Frankenweenie” looks interesting as it’s the first black and white 3D movie that I will enjoy.
I accidentally posted a comment about office max on a different theater in totowa, but office max is closed earlier this year waiting for another retailer to come in. This year marks 20 years since this theater was burned in a fire. I always loved the arcade room since it was decent sized.
This weekend, The Avengers is coming back to this theater for one weekend only weeks before it hits home later this month. Thankfully it’s the 2D version and this time after the credits are done there will be an extra scene.
LOL. Read my comment on raiders at the new rockaway theater. How did this theater do when ET came out? A friend of mine saw it the weekend it came out and was upset after seeing a scene in which the guy in the spacesuit enters ET’s house with Elliot. He missed quite a bit during that scene for a few minutes before going back into the theater.
Some of the clearviews in NJ have 35mm projection with dolby surround sound. I went to see “The Watch” and only the preshow was digital 2k. The 35mm projection was decent for a nearly few weeks old movie, and there was the cigarette burns, but few splices and scratches as well as the cue to turn on the lights when credits roll. If Clearview needs to survive (and they are thanks to free movie tuesdays lol), they need to upgrade the remaining film houses to digital by next decade in order to compete against the big three theater chains in America, which have nearly all of their main screens digital 4k. AMC’s 4k projection is pretty good, and digital imax saves money and time for a movie to be shipped to the theater. Not only that, but digital imax allows more previews to be shown.
In honor of the film’s 50th anniversary, Sony Pictures will debut a 4k restored version of “Lawrence of Arabia” at this theater as well as others in the nation for a limited time only, just in time for the upcoming bluray release. I’ve seen a bit of the dvd version and it looks like a vhs copy. This film was shown in HD one time on HDNet movies.
Went to see “The Watch” in theater #3, which is sandwhich between two larger houses that have digital surround sound and probably digital projection that passed some subwoofer noises to this small screen. Presentation was film and was in good condition. Sound was mono. Theater was packed yesterday because of free movie tuesday. The Parking lot around the theater is usually full, so park near any store that’s a good walking distance away from the main complex and watch out for cars!!!
Among upcoming movies playing at this theater according to Fandango, two of them are in 3D, Paranorman and Nitro Circus: The Movie. I’d go for the former.
Just saw the movie last saturday morning at an 11:20 showing. They started the trailers during the last few minutes of the preshow…surprisngly the projection was very bright for a digital imax movie. Among the trailers they showed before Dark Knight Rises were an AMC promo for the Watch (released by AMC and Regal owned Open Road Films), Skyfall trailer IMAX exclusive, Man of Steel (Jor-el), The Bourne Legacy (not coming out in imax), The Hobbit (part 1 of a trilogy, and Oz the great and powerful trailer. The imax intro was also shorter to make room for the batman movie. The real imax showings of dark knight rises in 70mm showings don’t have trailers at all. The projection of the movie was quite good, although the aspect ratios were quite a bit annoying. At least the sound mix was awesome!!!
Did they sharpen the focus on the digital imax screen. The last IMAX movie that I went to that used the aspect ratios was Tron 3D which wasn’t as good as the bluray version as I mentioned in my earlier post. The Lorax 3D was great in sharp imax 3D since it used the full screen as it was the same aspect ratio as the 35mm version (digital). As for the aspect ratios changing, I can deal with that. I saw that in The Dark Knight and in a trailer for Mission Impossible in digital imax. I heard the sound quality is good. Can you understand bane’s muffled voice in imax?
Paranormal Activity 4 plays in imax for one week only starting on friday.

Not only that, but moviegoers are filing a lawsuit against Front Row Joe for security issues at the theater during the shooting.
i feel sorry for those moviegoers who wanted to see the batman movie at this theater but had no choice but to see it elsewhere in Aurora,Colorado.
The trailer looks awesome!!! Can’t wait to see it in 3d…wonder if this theater will show it in 48fps….
yeah. online i saw it. new hobbit trailer out today.

Raiders of the Lost Ark is coming to this theater in digital imax, replacing the Dark Knight Rises for one week only.

I agree. I saw “Ted” and it was a funny movie. It was quite original.
