Lost Memory: Your Aug. 14, 2007 posted photo of the ticket kios is very nice. During my visit to Knoxville over the holidays that ticket kios had a very familiar person inside…Santa Claus! At night the marquees were lighted and it was a joy to see them shining brightly as I drove down Gay Street in Knoxville TN.
I recently visited the Tennessee and received a lovely full tour by resident organist, Dr. Bill Snyder. He even treated my husband and I to a private lovely 4 tune concert ending with, of course, the Tennessee Waltz. I also stepped into the Regal Cinema to check it out as they are headquartered in Knoxville along with Martha White Flour and HGTV, by the way! On the walls of the Regal are large b/w vintage photos of Knoxville so be sure to look up when you enter! And by the entrance doors is a vintage projector!
Thanks…I did check out the theatre’s website and clicked on tours so hopefully a tour will work out while in Tampa….sure hope so! I plan to give them a call.
dave-bronx: Thanks so much for posting this arcadia publishing site as I plan to order a book since visting all of these theatres this past summer while in Cleveland visiting Ohio friends.
I know a man from Effingham who owns a large car related business so perhaps he might be interested in purchasing this theatre or know someone who might have interest!
Guess this E show was broadcast more than once according to another post by “shoeshoe14” on Nov 14….which happens to be my wedding anniversary! Wonder what really happened between that famous former couple and their marriage?
The E network recently broadcast a segment about Moore and Willis and their presence in Hailey ID. It not only showed photos of the Liberty, but also a theatre named The Mint.
Would love to see a photo(s) of this former Statesville NC theatre. I recently visited the town and wondered if there had been a theatre…Broad Street is the town’s “main street”.
Lost Memory: What a wonderful evening photo of a wonderful theatre with a wonderful name…Ringling. BTW, the Ringling home and grounds in Sarasota FL are a must-see!
WSL: From your Feb. 28, 2005…“I took pictures that I would be glad to share with you.” I hope you see this post and can send me your collection of Grand photos especially one that shows the original front doors and some interior photos. I truly enjoyed reading about your Grand memories! The Westfield Memorial Hospital Foundation is selling the first in a series of Christmas ornaments and I have suggested to the WMHF chairman that next year’s ornament feature the Grand Theatre. They need a photo (doesn’t have to be an original) to give the artist. If you can help in this matter, please post here or email me at
Do you have to be a member of Flickr to view photos that are found there? I cut and pasted the 6 photos and inserted them into personal emails to residents and former residents of Westfield.

What a cute little theatre that is no more! Any interior photos?

HowardBHaas: Thanks for posting the interesting article. I plan to be in FL in early Feb. and will include a tour of this theatre! Are tours given?

Still hoping to see some photos this theatre! Thanks.
Is this theatre just “closed” or was it demolished? I have written a Raleigh friend and will hopefully get the answer!
My April 19,2007 post talks about this person and his connection to an event called Fun Fest.
I know a man from Effingham who owns a large car related business so perhaps he might be interested in purchasing this theatre or know someone who might have interest!
LOUB: Yes, it’s nice when theatres do both…films and live entertainment!
In the photo I doubt that these are the original doors..too bad they changed them out, imo.

Lost Memory: GREAT PHOTO!
HowardBHaas: These theatre photos are fabulous! Thanks for posting!
Such a shame that the quaint NC mountain town of Blowing Rock doesn’t have this theater.

So sorry to read this. Keep CT members posted on future developments. I had hoped to meet Mr. McNab this past summer, but never got that opportunity.
LOUB: Has anyone taken over this theatre since the sad passing of John McNab?

David Stear: Might you have a photo of this theatre with its original doors and not the ones present when the theatre was demolished?
randini: Strange that a former opera house wouldn’t have had an orchestra pit and/or organ!
