I think they will have a hard time get 35MM film prints. Paramount has stopped and soon the others studio’s will as well.

Dam I missed this because of the SNOW! Thursday would have been a GREAT day to go. Could not make it for Friday. Even tho the snow had cleared up.

I hope they get a new movie soon. Wolf Of Wall Street has played at the Zig since Dec 25

It is is good they are going digital. But to cut the theatre in half and invest in 2 digital projectors. Instead of keeping the theater as it is and only getting one projector. Would they really generate enough revenue with 2 screens? I am not sure it is worth the $$$ for the renovation and projector etc. Keep her a single screen!

movieguy commented about State Cinema on Feb 18, 2014 at 5:08 am

The State Theatre is a real gem. They are now showing first run films. I saw Monuments Men in the original 500 seat theater. Seats are very comfortable. They were replaced in 19898. The slope of the floor is very good. So you get a good view from any seat. Movies are now all digital. As they switched from 35MM film stock about a year ago. A beautiful mural of blue sky and clouds spreads across the entire ceiling. in 1998 the theatre underwent a $250,000.00 top to bottom renovation. A 2nd theatre with 100 stadium seats was added in 2001. The lobby is long and adorned with mini chandlers and framed mirrors. The ticket booth is painted yellow and authentic. Before you turn right or left to enter either theatre. There is a old carbon arc projector on display. Which was used when the theatre opened in 1927 up thru the mid 1990’s.

The parking lot behind the theater is very small. As when the theatre was built. Most people walked from nearby houses.

Parking in other private lots near the theatre WILL GET YOU TOWED! So park in the CVS complex 1.5 blocks from the theatre and take a brisk walk back to the theatre!

Prices a very reasonable $10.00. $9.00 matinee. $4.00 all seats on Tuesday. So get there early as it gets packed! The State Cinema is a real Cinema treasure! So pass by the multi-plex and make this cinema your go to movie palace!

JJD You do not know what you saw in Inception? It was a WASTE of 2.5 hours of your life? Maybe aliens came down and put a “freeze” on your brain BEFORE the movie!!!

I live in Rockland County NY, about 60 minutes away from the Community Theatre! I am looking forward to visiting again, after going back in 2002. I missed Hot Tub Time Machine in the souless multi-plex.

They are now screening that motion picture until May 13th. For $4.00 VS $11.50! All one has to do is wait 4-8 weeks for the film to come to the Community.

It is a wonderful theater lovingly operated by a friendly and caring staff!

Fantastic news about 3D’s debut for Alice In Wonderland tomorrow!

I have been looking forward to this since 3D was announced last fall!

I called up the local Rockland AM station WRCR and talked to the hosts of the morning show about the addition of 3D!

Real 3D in a REAL MOVIE PALACE!

In fact The Lafayette is the ONLY Movie Palace, operating since 1924 in THE ENTIRE Tri-State area, that now has 3D Technology!

It will be a AMAZING experience to see a motion picture in 3D on a silver screen, in such a historic venue!

I live in Rockland County NY, just 15 min from the boarder of NJ. The Washington Theatre is run with real PASSION under the guidance of Marco and the crew! It is a 140 mile round trip, but is worth it!

I am looking forward to visiting the theatre this Saturday to see Sherlock Homes and The Book Of Eli!

movieguy commented about Four proposals for Senator Theatre on Dec 1, 2009 at 5:25 pm

The Senator SHOULD continue to show first run and second run films. Running second run films or move over films would allow to show 3 to 4 movies a month, vs one or two with first run films. Classic films or film festivals would also be a good program for the senator!

If one looks around there are many ways to get discount tickets to movies. The Entertainment book offers AMC discount tickets for $6.50 (Silver you have to wait 10 days to use) or Gold @ 8.50. Clearview has discount tickets for $7.00 and $8.00. In fact if your are a Cablevision subscriber to the tipple play in the NY metro area you can go to the movies for FREE on TUESDAY! This INCLUDES the Ziegfeild in NYC. Other times it is $7.00 VS $12.50 at the Ziegfeild and the other NYC Clearview locations.

Regal,City Cinema’s and UA also offer discount tickets. I am sure I am leaving out some chains.

Hello your posting up on Cinema Treasures regarding the Crest Theatre Even though the flashing marquee could cause seizures at night can be taken as humor or offense.

I am not a PC type of guy, but having a son with a neurological disorder that can result in seizures at times did put me off.

Perhaps you should think up a more appropriate way to describe the colorful marque of the Crest Theatre
