This weekend, Happy Feet Two is in 2D, 3D, and IMAX 3D. The new twilight movie is on multiple screens. Next weekend, Hugo and Arthur Xmas come out in 3D and the Muppets are back. I read on IMDB that the Muppets were shot in 4.5k on the Red Epic One camera, just like Contagion.
Great movie that i saw on vhs. Funny. Notice that both Sony theaters are showing the film in 35mm Dolby Stereo instead of the advertised DTS 5.1 and DTS 2.0 stereo format as both theaters supported SDDS, which Universal didn’t support until 1998.
Back when this theater was first owned by Sony, they had posters of classic Columbia Pictures/Tristar/SPC movies, some of which won oscars, alongside the epic staircase leading up to the imax theater, from which people waiting to go in would watch stuff on the tv screens.
This theater is one of many 70mm IMAX Screens that will preview the new Dark Knight rises prologue that will be shown only with 70mm IMAX prints of Mission Impossible, Ghost Protocol. In 2013, the IMAX theater will use digital laser technology created by IMAX with help from money losing Eastman Kodak, which is undergoing a major restructuring. 2014 marks the 20th anniversary of this landmark theater.
I just saw a tv commercial earlier this week during Jeopardy on ABC 7 promoting the new Rockette’s Journey prologue before the xmas show, which will make the show a bit longer. This show still attracts fans from all over the world. I’ve seen it like two or three times.

Opening weekend movies are Dolphin Tale 3D, In Time, Moneyball, Paranormal Activity 3, Puss and Boots in 2D and 3D, Real Steel, The Rum Diary, Sarah’s Key, Tower Heist in regular and XD, and A Very Harold and Kumar 3D Xmas in both 2D and 3D (two screens). Reaction to the theater has been mixed from locals. Hopefully the movies get better with time. Prices are reasonable compared to other theaters in the tri-state area. I might check this out next time I visit my relatives in Northwest NJ.
Harold and Kumar is showing on two 3D screens, Puss in Boots is showing on one 3D screen and one imax 3d screen. Tower Heist is on two screens. No ticket price change yet. Maybe by the holidays it will go up to $11.50….
Advance tickets now on sale for Harold and Kumar 3D Xmas…which looks kinda silly but should be a hoot. Tomorrow snow comes to Rockaway which will affect the theater, as there’s a sold out performance of Don Giovanni (Met) that day.
Opening this friday at this theater, Anonymous, In Time (on two screens), Puss in Boots in three flavors (digital 2D, 3D, and Imax 3D), and The Rum Diary. Next week Tower Heist opens, and two weeks from that Twilight 4.1 opens.
New this fall at amc rockaway 16…hot fresh foods like pizza, breadsticks, and usual hot movie food to go along with an ice cold drink to cool the food down while watching very little original films…too many sequels, remakes, and movies based on true stories that we’ve seen too many times. BTW, here’s a list of movies that are coming soon to this theater that could whet your appetite… http://www.imdb.com/list/RK8Ftk4kSlU/
an update on the tower heist situation….looks like universal has canceled its VOD plans for tower heist, therefore this movie will go on as planned at the new theater.
went to see the movie Contagion in regular 4k 2D in the smallest screen, number 12, that seats 125 patrons, and it was not that crowded. The presentation was pretty good, with fluid images and sharp text and subtitles. The soundtrack was clear and very loud. I also watched a new policy trailer that features muppets due to the new Muppet movie coming out this thanksgiving, which I can’t wait.
amazing….they’ve seen more movies at that theatre than I do….it’s still the best movie theater in somerset county with stadium seating and none of that dining stuff.
I went to see real steel in the liemax screen….projection was a bit soft but fluid, and it was very bright. Sound was awesome and the only trailers to fill the imax screen were those for arthur christmas, MI:4, and Immortals. Didn’t see the war horse trailer, which was dissapointing. One thing i noticed…at the end of the preshow, they had a countdown clock on the lower right corner of the screen , which became blue, and was set at 4 minutes, then the movie and trailers began.
regarding the darkness issue with moneyball…this is due to the film being shown with the 3d lenses on rather than the light fading out. AMC needs to fix these issues soon. Hopefully they improve the IMAX projection when Dark Knight Rises comes out.
The grand opening of this theater’s successor will be November 4, although the big movie that will come out, Tower Heist, won’t be due to Universal and its parent company, Comcast doing the premium VOD service three weeks after the films comes out. This will be a big disappoinment for fans of Ben Stiller living in the Poconos who want to see a big budget comedy action film in CInemark XD.

Not a prelude, but a new musical number to fit in the running time of the show. My mistake, rcdt55b.

6 of the 12 screens are 3D capable, with 1 also a cinemark xd screen.

there’s no image of the hall, as the picture shows a broken image.

this article is a week old, but shares of some of the companies involved in the 3d business are falling but have since recovered from their week lows.
