Tis,every fall we got 4 big MGM movies three of the four were GREAT,The “SOUND OF MUSIC” drove every old lady came out to see it and they drove me crazy.
I have some in front of the screen if Nick wants to put them on.Funny thing, when we took pictures we always got in the picture. We never thought anyone else even cared about closed theatres, had we known so,maybe we would have kept our ugly mugs out of the shot.LOL.
thanks Mary T.It was a different theatre business in Those days. When I started out as an Usher in 1974, I wasn’t allowed to step foot in the booth unless the Projectionist okayed it,by the time I got out in ‘83 we were stocking the booth with Drink Cups and using the Projectionists personal restroom; The managers that is.And it was Still Union, but it was coming to an End,GCC did keep the IA longer than the other chains in Augusta,Ga.
Geez, Russell,I didn’t know you were that old even to remember Forest Hills. The Bon Air Drive-in was where Bowers and Bi-lo were built, two Drive-ins side by side,Almost a Twin.Bon-Air is on CT. I don’t even rembering it except as being closed and Pines growing up in the lot.
Yep,that was the Weis Cinema Centre, never a marquee just a little twin stuck in an existing building. One reason “STAR WARS” played there so long.in was Tiny compared to my Columbia 1 and 2.Thanks Nick.Russell.I will put most of our girls from Regency up against any I ever worked with from ABC,Plitt or GCC in Athens.Remember Anne?
That was a beautiful Concession, with real wood burning Fireplace.I still have my “Make my Day” T-Shirt. I hope the members in North Carolina see this, raysson and PatricaNC.
when I first went in that booth I had only seen Platters, not reels on the walls. It was different, for sure.Ray ended up servicing all the Regal Cinemas in that area when Projection problems arose.
I agree looks like a sea food place.Lets make theatres look like theatres!

Unless “JAWS” topped it.
Yes,Nick,You don’t think of the Tampa going the X-rated route.I wonder if Atlanta’s FOX played X-rated movies,I sure do not recall any.
