Open 1955-1964?
Need an address, more info, and photos.
10141 Dixie Rd, Quitman, GA 31643
The above address will map accurately to the location of the drive-in.
Here is a 1952 aerial photo of the drive-in, courtesy of Earth Explorer and USGS.
Also, I believe this drive-in operated under the name “Star Drive-In.”
I can’t seem to get that address to map properly.
Thomasville Rd & Dixie Rd, Quitman, GA 31643
The above address will map better to the location of the drive-in, which was on the north side of Dixie Rd, just west of the intersection with Dixie Rd.
According to a small item in Billboard Magazine, September 2, 1950, the Board of Commissioners of Brooks County on August 26 granted the Quitman Drive-in on Thomasville Road a permit to show movies on Sundays.
Weird that being in Billboard, you’d think Boxoffice.Guess it wasn’t all Music in those days.
