I noticed that when I went to see Rio in 3D. Great use of 3D as it was animated for 3D rather being converted. JJD, have you seen “Rio”? It’s the best animated film of 2011, until Kung Fu Panda 2 comes out, probably watching it in reald 3d. Hoodwinked 2 looks awful. Dolphin Tale is Ashley Judd and Morgan Freeman’s first 3D movie as movie stars, and it looks interesting. A good website for checking out which movie is real 3D or not is http://realorfake3d.com/
Probably. They’re also using the liemax screen to project Scream 4 on the supersized screen, much like the digital way of showing a smaller movie for which the Lincoln Square did when they show non-IMAX movies.
Showtimes are up for this weekend…only three showtimes each day for Born to be Wild 3D IMAX and that’s it. Wonder what the other showtimes will be used for?
Top Gun returns to this theater at the end of this month for two shows only, just in time for its 25th anniversary. The original Top Gun played in the old Rockaway theaters and did quite well.
advance tickets are on sale for Fast Five, but only for the IMAX version. Regular edition showtimes are greyed out. AMC must be planning ahead in advance of heavy demand. Also coming out is African Cats.
The remake of the Thing is not in B&W, but in bloody color. I’ve seen that movie as well as the Matrix movie (which I saw in 35mm SDDS 5.1 at the AMC Loews in Wayne). Both are good classics. The original Thing can be seen on the TV during John Carpenter’s Halloween scene in which Jamie Lee Curtis' kid who she babysits watches the 1951 classic.
The closing of this theater leaves Hunterdon County without a movie theater for the first time, forcing moviegoers to go to other theatres in surrounding counties or use Netflix to rent movies.
Air Force One I saw when I was 14. Action packed and violent, yet educational for its portrayal of the famous presidential plane. When summer rolls around, ticket prices will spike.
What sound systems did the Hall have over its history, and which ones has it kept? How about projection systems? I know IMAX is probably the only one that is not shown here due to the screen size.
I’m doing good. On the movietickets.com website, you can now search for a movie at this theater by release date in addition to searching for it by ABC. This is useful for watching older movies you missed out instead of the more popular new releases, which are marked with a red “NEW” next to it. New releases at this theater include “Hop” on two screens, “Insidious” on one, “The Source Code” on one, and the PG-13 version of the Best Picture winner “The King’s Speech”, which removes all swear words in the film which is kinda stupid but will reach a wider audience. Also playing is “Win Win”, which is getting rave reviews. “Mars Needs Moms” is playing in digital 3d on one showtime. Born to be Wild 3D will play next weekend in IMAX 3D, followed by a remake of Arthur, Hanna (which looks great), Soul Surfer, and Your Highness, which looks stupid. Rio 3D, Scream 4, and indie movie Trust come to this theater. African Cats opens next week, and is doing well on sold out shows on Earth Day. Advance showtimes for summer movies don’t come out until mid-April. I believe the new Fast and Furious movie might bring moviegoers back to this theater.
Awesome pre-movie short featuring Scrat, a teaser for Ice Age 4.

A few
All of them with the exception of the liemax.
Yup. Only at AMC theatres. Has anyone seen a 4k movie at this theater? If so how is it?
Advance tickets are now up for “Thor” in fake 3D and liemax 3d. I’ll rather see the 2D version.

Six screenings of a movie starting at 10 am plus 5 stage shows required a lot of work for the crew at RCMH back in the 1930’s.
Ur Welcome….will recent movies be shown at this theater, and how much will it cost for concerts, events, and movies?

This despite a box office slump the past couple of months makes sense. Online ticketing will grow when summer movies arrive.
When was Dolby Stereo installed at this theater? How about the digital surround sound systems?

When did 70mm debut at this theater? I know 35mm was around since it opened in 1969.

you double commented, rampagingbandicoot.
Now playing at this theater….AMC Smart MovieSnacks!!!! View link
Better snacks, now better movies soon.
tinseltoes, you misspelled Daisies.
