Between the easter show and the Xmas show, the Christmas Spectacular has been and will be a a cash cow for Radio City and its parent company, MSG, even as its sports teams are trying to make it to the playoffs and bring some much needed revenue for the company, which is expected to renovate the Garden next year. James Dolan knows this all too well. There was a time when Nelson Rockefeller ran Radio City really well and his dancing troupe the Rockettes became New York icons. In other news, despite the NFL lockout, the NFL Draft will continue at the Hall next month. And last night, Elvis Costello played there.
When Cineplex took over, they replaced all the Walter Reade policy trailers with their own trailers. Clearview took over, and replaced it with the Clearview trailers as well as promos for Cablevision. What did Cineplex change to the Ziegfeld, in terms of projection, sound, and seating and prices?
When did Cineplex Odeon take over the Ziegfeld? I knew they sold it off to Clearview due to the Loews Cineplex merger. Thank god Cineplex didn’t divide the famous screen into a megaplex and kept it the way it was.
I knew….since “Psycho” would soon be rated R when it was re-released…How many disney movies have played at the hall? I know a lot have played, since Disney is the most famous studio to ever play every big movie they had during the golden age of hollywood at the hall.
How many Hitchcock movies have been playing at the hall (mostly premieres)? I bet a lot. I’ve seen a lot of the trailers, and half of them have Hitchock narrate the trailer. He was truly the master of Suspense, who made his last movie nearly 35 years ago, a movie called Family Plot, which made a profit for the aging director, who died four years later in 1980.
I remember that movie when I rented it on VHS. A classic musical. Its title song was so popular, that it was used in “A Clockwork Orange”, speaking of which did it play at the Hall?
Too bad the new rockaway theater is not THX certified….sound bleeding into auditoriums, not perfect screens, and that awful imax screen. I think the AMC rockaway was one of two theatres to be checked by THX in Morris County (the other being East Hanover when it was a Sony/Loews theater…I don’t see no sign of THX anywhere). Back then THX was owned by Lucasfilm, and now is a separate company.
6 screens for Godzilla? That was uncommon for in those days for just one movie to dominate all screens. The new AMC in Rockaway, Greg, usually shows a major summer movie on all screens (even IMAX for select) at midnight showings, thus allowing crowds to see it at any screen. No wonder why Godzilla bombed and Armageddon and Saving Private Ryan ruled.
I agree. Advance tickets for several movies that are the same old garbage are coming out..including another Easter movie and a movie based on a true story of a surfer who lost her arm to a shark. None of these movies look interesting. It will take a month or two before summer kicks in to kickstart the box office to an increase over last year, in which multiple 3D movies dominated the box office with healthy grosses. This theater will probably need money mostly from its electic concession menu, and the new Stubs program which could give a jolt into the company’s bottom line, and perhaps put AMC back onto the stock market.
according to Mayor Corey Booker, this theater will expand to 14 screens next year under the supervision of Newark-born and Boston Celtics player Shaquille O'Neal. The theater will have state of the art amenities. Groundbreaking is set for June, and will open for the holiday 2011 season. It’s about time that a megaplex returns to Newark.
Theatre’s closed until monday due to flooding as well as the nearby mall. Route 23 is a disaster. The Clearview is the only cinema that’s open in wayne.

When Clearview took over, did they change anything?

i agree. BTW, kings speech will be edited to PG-13.
lol

FYE is going to be a forever21 store.
Radio City Music Hall…where the stars come out and play lol.
This theater will soon open under new ownership, according to the Blairstown fan page on Facebook.
It’s open….http://www.fandango.com/amcloewswayne14_aabpj/theaterpage
I agree. 2D makes the movie more viewable.
I agree JJD. Mars Needs Moms totally bombed at the box office. 3D is a waste of money. They should just stop making 3D movies in the near future.
hollywood tonight, the new michael jackson video, was shot in this theater.
