Sept 24 1967 and the Skyway has James Caan in “REDLINE 7000” and David Janssen in"WARNING SHOT" starting that Wednesday was “THE WAR WAGON” and “FLUFFY”. The Skyway Drive in was one mile North of Fountain City,Tn.
Skyway drive-in I have in my 1956 Motion picture Almanac parks 175 cars.Which is WAY off the 500 mentioned above. It was owned by W.J.Hatfield. Playing Sept. 18 1967 was Roddy McDowell and Susanne Pleshette in “THE ADVENTURE OF BULLWHIP GRIFFIN” one show only at 8:15.Most all the other Knoxville area drive-ins were running Two movies.
What a loss.Newport is a nice size town to not have a theatre having lost three Drive-ins.I guees folks don’t mind the drive to Morristown or Knoxville.I find it hard to believe the overhead was getting more expensive. It could go second run.I have seen the Ticket admissions to theatres in that size of town in that region and they were like 1975 prices at several first run theatres in that region dealing with small towns,Not Knoxville. What a kick in the head!
Boy,Chuck I was so afraid of that.It most likely was.I assumed Wrong again.why can’t newspaper editors catch captions such as what I saw and have “such and such is thanking voters on the old Midland Theatre in such and such city”.It had to be somewhere in the Winnsboro area.
Thanks jmorong,Best of luck.I live in Augusta, but The Manor is a theatre Charlotte can not let go the way of your other great Theatres.Had a friend Manage theatres in Charlotte in the 70’s I remember seeing the Theatre alot, but we never went in,he was with Plitt.
Some reason it did not make the 1956 printing of the 1956 motion Picture Almanac.
According to my 1956 motion picture Almanac everything Chuck mentioned above was correct in 1956.
1956 car capicity was listed at 500 and it was owned by Huish and Gilhool.
Ken McIntyre and Mike Rogers both contributed.
Thanks Chuck1231.
Thanks Guys wish I had more to add.

Probably is Chuck. My info once again came from my OLD 1956 Motion Picture Almanac.wish they would QUIT changing names.
Hopefully, someone will step up.Newport is in the Heart of Tourist Country,No reason a 4 plex can’t make it there.Management problems ?
Enjoy.wish I could be there.
