Well, I never had a problems with refunds especially when playing films like “ON GOLDEN POND” which i did refund a few at Regency because the ladies came out complaining about the dirty lanuage.Ladies that old still saw the PG rating as Family friendly,In those days PG pictures such as “BILLY JACK” were loaded with Adult language and Quite a bit of nudity. But to give someone a full refund after watching the entire film is crazy.I had one lady one night at Columbia 1 and 2 want her money back after watching the whole movie.Needless to say,She didn’t get it a penny.Love working with the public everyone should be forced to do it.
Thanks bbrown1,great writing on those East Tennessee Screens. At one time {1956} Augusta,Ga had 13 Drive-ins,but with the Bomb plant on the other side of the Savannah river once that place got going alot of outdoor screens were gone that like Oak Ridge and of course TV. I am still trying to find the name of that third Drive-in In Newport,Tn.
Best bet would be hit the local paper Archives and search.Sometimes the Grand opening ad would have a picture of the Theatre. That is what I did and for the most part; I had a picture or a nice artist drawing of the theatre.hope you find one.
My X rated movie was “STORY of O”. Can’t wait to tell some of old Plitt Theatre buddies.{that I still can’t get to get on CT.Russell has, however at Regency Mall.He seems to be enjoying it}.
Bad idea.eat before you go to a movie. My son worked a theatre such as the one above and was attacked by a drunk who had way too much to drink and I guess eat in Arlington,Texas.
I saw Scfy running “GREEN HORNET” all day yesterday, what few shows they made.It is hard to predict moviegoers, but we played “SUPERMAN III” to an empty House once Sunday rolled around.Who knows larry1.
Yes, it was Abc Southeastern/Plitt theatre.April 27 1983 Prices for “JEDI” were set at 2,50 for kids and 4.50 for adults.Cedar Bluff was Fifty cents cheaper across the board.Your Knoxville District manager was George Deavours. For “JEDI” and “SUPERMAN” there were no Bargin matinee price. No senior citizen price,no passes, no rats {reduced tickets sold to industry and schools}.Bruce Torbett managed Westown in the late 70’s.Westown was a twin playing “D.C.CAB” and “TERMS OF ENDEARMENT. On these two films Attendance was 3573.Concession Sells were $3142.00. per cap 87.9 [NOT BAD].Payroll that week at Westown was 405.00 {which tells me the Assistant was selling concession or either working Box,we did that in Augusta to the point I was sick of it}.Jan 4. 1984 Ron McHone was Manager of Westown.
Pretty plain, dull looking theatre to me .No jazz. Thanks for the pictures.

I have it being owned by Port Outdoor Theatres,Inc in 1956.
It held 750 cars in 1956 and was owned at that time by Barney Brotman.
