Detail – Back Stalls Ceiling.
The perforated panels allowed air to pass to the ventilation ducts. Their design was found in sister theatres. The ornamental plaster of the Hoyts Regent chain of theatres was the work of Picton Hopkins who had a large factory in Church Street Richmond, a little to the South of Bridge Road. In my search for Regent history I visited there often and was always welcomed by people proud of the fine mouldings which they developed from the original architect’s drawings.
