United Artists has sunk to low levels since the days when it was started by Chaplin, Pickford, Fairbanks, and Griffith.
If they wanted to redo do it as a tri-auditorium theatre they could still have left the lobby nice. It should be restored and show motion pictures again. Why can’t they build nice stuff anymore? i mean who wants to look at the abstract-looking crap buildings that they build now. Why can’t they build them like they did in the 20s and 30s and before?

Will the health nut idiots ever be kicked out and it be converted back to a theatre? Roger Rabbit was a great movie, must of been great in this theatre.
Even if they had to rebuild stuff they could do it in a nice style not that black box crap. And who wants the “urban environment in a movie theatre anyway? That’s stupid. Maybe if it was the urban environment in the 20s when they built nice buildings, but not with the garbage they build now!
Sure its better than being torn down but they should build stuff like they used to. Why can’t they just build nice stuff any more. Just compare your average building from the 20s to your average building now. The Empire should have been redone as a nice one auditorium theatre with nice decor and the old stuff. Why can’t they do that anymore?
Pasadena ought to be ashamed!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THey say they have great historic buildings, but REALLY they just have great historic building exteriors. For the most part all of there nice old buildings have been gutted for dumb stores and stupid, useless things like crateandbarrell. IT’s a shame!!!!!!!!!
Gene Buchanan is a stupid idiot who, like many other stupid idiots in this time period, don’t like old stuff and just want to tear it down or mess it up and make some cheap particle-board drywall mess just to make more money in the short term. Even when good quality buildings are made today they are in an ugly style (like the Disney Concert Hall). I mean wouldn’t you rather look at a nice art deco or revival building like the Biltmore Hotel or Los Angeles Theatre both in Downtown Los Angeles or other buildings there or what’s left of the (now mostly gutted but better than nothing) buildings of Downtown “Old” Pasadena? Or would you rather look at some ugly conglomerate of distorted geometric shapes like the Disney Concert Hall or other such buildings? Come on! What’s wrong with people now?
Why can’t they just make theatres like they used to?
(Actually this isn’t just true of theatres: Old everything is better in quality and style such as office buildings, homes, clothing, etc.)
The egyptian still could have been restored exactly as it was minus the proscenium and that still would have been thousands of times better. One of the worst mistakes was redoing that stupid modernistic lobby they have now and that dumb steven spielberg screening room. Just look at the old pictures and you’ll see what i mean. View link
Cahplin would be ashamed of what has become of his company
