There was a theater called the Mojestic. Was this the same cinema. I remember going to the Mojestic in 1965 and seeing many double features there while station at Fort Gordon, The mojestic also has a balcony and use onces when I was station there. If anyone knows more about this theater let me know.
I live in Cleveland and use to ready the Atlatic paper in the 70’s. I remember when the Tara open. Loew’s moved Gone with the Wind from the downtown Grand to this location. Loews had the world premeir for the rerelease around 1970. That is why loews named this theater TARA.
It was in the paper that this theater will be reopening sometime this summer. Atlas Cinemas will be reopening it. They will add 7 more screens to the theatre along with putting in all stadium seating. Atlas bought the land the theatre is on from Greatlakes mall and they got extra land to have more parking on. I was glad to hear this will be reopened.
The Lakeshore Cinema just under went remodeling. Atlas Cinemas added stadium seating to the viewing rooms. Along with remodeling the owners put in larger screens.
Richman Mall is in Richman Hts Oh. The mall never closed and the cinemas did good busness. Peol quite going to the twin part of the cinemas until they were remodled
I went to this Cinema when I was in the Army and station in Africa. It brings back alot of memories. When I was there it would coast more to sit in the balcony then the main floor. There were two theater in town that where built alike. If this was in the down town district then they showed Italian films at that time. The other theatre played old American films. They had intermissions in all their films. Even the ones that where 2 hours or less. If there is any more info on this theatre, please post.
I believe this will be torn down soon. They are going to up date the shopping center soon and want to redevelop this part of it. This was a boweling alley before it became a movie house. And yes Loews did run this theatre into the ground, has welll has all it outer Cleveland houses.
Correction, This theatre closed in January of 2004 after being operated by Atlas cinemas after Regal. In Januaryof 2004 Regal came into the property and said all the equipment was their".s Everything,(including seats) wwere taken out by Regal. They did not want the theatre open. (They just build a new theatre in Willoughby. Which was a few miles down the road.) The closing of this theatre lift the area by the mall with no cinema. I heard that Adlas wants to remodel and expand this theatre. Nothing has happen yet
Just want to let you know the auditorium of this theater was destroyed by and explosiont a few years aftwer it cloesed. It was used has a craft store til then.
The church you are talking about is in the ezella. The Mayland building is still for rent. I go by there now and then. Just past there a couple days ago
The Shaker Sq Cinema is not 6 screens and is own by Ckleveland Cinemas. From what I have read the lobby was refurbished in it original style. All the houses have stereo now. Whfen it was a five screen theatre the owner was Atlas cinemas.
Before it was a roadshow house, it showed mostly art movies from overseas and speicalty film.
When it reopen it ran mostly 2nd run films in 70mm. That was before other theatres in Cleveland would. Then the new owners of the Sq wanted it to be made into a 5 screen house and now to its present 6 screen
This wass my favoie movie house in the 70'. Last reserve seat movie was Fiddler on the Roof
