A conversion of a former retail store. The 135-seat Art Theatre opened on August 21, 1967 with Anouk Aimee in “A Man and a Woman” which ran for 6-weeks. It went over to screening adult films in the late-1960’s and early-1970’s.

Well, I dealt with Kenny Rogers in Athens,He had a big horse farm there,It is onGEORGIA SQUARE CINEMAS GCC on CT,but you have read it. He never wanted in free,And really in Augusta I don’t remember JAMES BROWN ever asking to come in for free. If I spotted him in line i would quietly escort him in and he got such a big kick out of. I guess you got to do some small talk,but I am sure most locals left them alone.

Wide selection of films for sure at the Art theatre.
No way this theatre had 550 seats maybe a little over 100,it was built down in a a large basement.

i was talking to friend whose dad ran movies down the street at the Imperial;he loaned several of his nice one sheets to Joe Goode[owner]for pictures playing and never got a single one back…Guess JOe never used NSS.
i have few that were not..lol. found in the old MILLER Theatre.

yep, museum sits there now….ACDECOSTER….
