I have a ticket stub that I have saved for Water Tower Theatre 3 with an address of 845 N. Michigan Ave. Was this part of the same location? The admission price was $2.00.
Tickets for the 70MM Festival could be bought at the Box Office before or at the time of the performance. I never purchased a ticket through Ticketmaster.
The first production in IMAX was North of Superior. See more information about the film here…https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_of_Superior
Yes there was a Souvenir Program for Patton. The front cover had George C. Scott standing in front of a very large American flag just as he did in the opening of the movie. I bought my program from the University Theatre here in Toronto at the premiere of the Roadshow presentation. I will post it when I locate the box I packed my programs for storage.
The Yorkville Club has now been closed as the building is about to become a new condo complex along with the parking lot to the west of the theatre building.
My one and only trip to Cinecity was to see the Beatles Yellow Submarine at a midnight showing. The projectionist ran the sound through all the speakers to make up for the mono sound and I was truly amazed at how large the screen was for such a small theatre. The only artwork I saw on the walls was posters for upcoming movies.
What a wealth of information on Cinerama. I was only 7 when Cinerama made it’s debut in the Grand Music Hall Theater in Detroit so it was a few years before I was able to make my way across the border from Windsor, Ontario, Canada to see my first presentation. I was hooked on the big theater experience and the Cinerama process. This site has brought back many memories that I had forgotten. Thanks for the memories.
what does this have to do with the Uptown…Jackson Tn?
great photo of the refreshment bar. Brings back many memories.
Fantastic ads. Where did you find them? Good job!
CinemarkFan,
I will scan it as soon as I can and will add it to the photo section.
Thanks for getting back to me.

An ad for ZARDOZ at the Bramalea 3 has been installed in the photo section. This ad appeared in the Toronto Star March 22, 1974.
AD APPEARED IN THE TORONTO STAR DECEMBER 22, 1978
This was the theatre handout for the 70mm version that did not have credits at the beginning or the end.

NOTE the $7.00 admission price for this film in 1981.
This is actually the Northland Theatre not the AMERICANA. Some people referred to it as the “Whale” because of the shape.
I wish I had been able to be there for the grand opening.
