The photos shown are not actually of the theater. That’s Hoods, which co-existed with the theater, and stands about 50 yards to the west. The original theater was a smaller building and colored differently, though it was built in the same style. The theater building was a restaurant for a few years, and then the building was demolished. An Aldi store now stands on the site.
This theater opened in late November of 2003, just to supplement the description. The exterior of the Great 8 and Sullivan 6 buildings are quite similar, although they are configured a bit differently, but the interiors are very different.
Great theater, and I miss it very much. Much better than the current theater, which is less charming by a ton and costs 3 times as much to visit. I can’t figure out how to edit info on here, but it was a part of the Kerasotes chain since about a year after it opened. It began as an independent one.
It was also haunted. I worked there for 3 ½ years until it closed.
